Default shifter gives off shock

what would cause my shifter to shock me when i hold it and touch my ebrake. its only when i have my lights on.

prolly from the friction of your *** in the seat, i ALWAYS get shocked when i get out and touch the door to close it

I think his problem extends beyond static electricity... Have you done any electrical work to the car recently?

yeah, i think it concerns your electrical system, somebody messed up when they put your stuff back together.

this wouldn't really make any sense, since the brake pedal cover is a rubber, plus if you're wearing shoes... there would be no contact point between the bottom of your foot and the pedal its self. Also, the pedal would have a ground charge to it (or should), and the shifter is also grounded. Even if the +12v wire comming into the plug on the brake switch were to touch the pedal, you wouldn't get shocked because that +12v would be shorted right to ground and either blow a fuse or burn up the wire. Same thing would happen to the shifter. It pretty much has to be static unless something is totally screwed up to the point that you most likely won't be able to figure out.

the rubber came off the pedals and also it only happens when one hand is on the shifter and the other is on the brake handle

ahh i found what was wrong, there was once a light up mugen shift **** on the car and the wire was still live inside the shifter
