Thermal/Heat wrapped headers
Did a search on this, please give some leanway as im from New Zealand
so you guys may call it something else(like we commonly call the "hood" a bonnet
) so yea, ANYWAY i plan to get the headers from my 98 spec Type R "professionally" heat wrapped (take the welds for the bolts off and wrap it all nice) has anyone else here done this, any nice gains?in the N/A class over here, a few hybrid and stripped hondas doing 13's and even our 12 and 11 sec n/a boys have it done, i do relise im in a way answering my question to is it worth it(hence why i am) BUT im wondering do you really notice it?or in fact do you recommend another way of say header upgrade, only that factory 98spec hard to improve on. any HELP appreciated.

Heater wrap is good, but the problem is, water gets in there and starts rusting everything to hell.
Header coatings like Swaintech or JetHot are typically ceramics that are bonded to the surface of the metal.

Hey man. Im from New Zealand too.
As for heatwrapping. I would heat wrap as it would keep engine bay temps down a little bit, BUT before heatwrapping you should get some sort of coating like HPC. Because water will get underneath and rust away your header.
I got my header HPC Coated and have before and after pics if you want them PM me and I can send them to you.
So heatwrapping is good if you have a coating underneath. And dont get professionally done all you need is some Stainless steel hose clamps and just hose clamp it top and bottom.
Also when you wrap a header only overlap you wrap by 1/4 of it size as it will give you the correct heat dissapation throughout the header.
So PM me if you want Pics of HPC coating on my header.

if your place rain or snow..get it JET COATED first, cost around 100-150 bucks for a 4banger header(ceremic or SS).
thermo-tec headerwrap are good stuff, just dont forget to wear heavyduty gloves and mask when you wrapping it. oh yeah, having small hands(wife/gf) would help(for some of you big guys)
