you could any b-series, d-series, and a h22 (with major fabrication) if you wanted. If you wanted to even turbo a h22 in a crx, you'd have to do alot of work just to get it to fit...And even then there are issues. Use the search function, you can answer your own questions there. If you were to go b16a turbo (well over 200whp mark) you'd probably be able to get that set up for little less than 3000.

Turboing the stock 88 Si D16A6 can yield surprisingly good results, as long as you invest in good fuel/timing management and some tuning. But of course that should be done with ANY turbo Honda. ZCs are ok but they're not really any better than the Z6 and Y8 vtec engines, plus ZCs are a little harder and more expensive to get parts for. B-series are nice and have more potential but you'll have to add about $1000-$5000 to your project. Any H-series is going to be a major pita and will leave a big smokin' hole in your wallet, but go for it if you want to.
My advice? Searching. And reading. LOTS of searching and reading. This topic has been covered many times and there's a wealth of info if you look for it. The 88 is pretty light and I think a well tuned turbo D16A6 would make most people happy, unless they gotta be a big time sTuNnA, yO!
