Default Oil pressure drops when vtec kicks in.

I have a semi built d16z6 in my ef hatch, last night I converted to obd1 and installed a p28 and finally have vtec hooked up. I can't hear vtec engage at all (on my old turbo setup it was real quiet) but at the activation point around 5k I see the oil pressure drop from 70psi to right around 50 psi. Is a 20 psi drop normal? I have never noticed any drops on B series when vtec kicks in. Is there anything in the d heads I could have left out that would cause it to leak the oil out that should be going to the vtec rail, I know there is the oil conrtol orrifice in the B heads but dont remember seeing one in the Ds. Thanks in advance!

Now I've heard that Oil pressure will drop right at the crossover.

Can't say for sure since I don't have oil pressure gauge installed yet.
I'm sure others will have more info.

My oil psi drops at crossover point, probably 10-15 PSI or so.

Yea I would have expected some fluctuation but a loss of 20psi seemed like it may be excessive. The engine has perfect pressure with vtec unhooked, exactly 50psi at 3k and builds 10psi for every extra 1k. Im not too worried about it but im curious what other people with single cams and oil pressure guages are reading.

well it also depends on the diamiater of the oil pressure line you are running... the fatter the line the more drop you will see.... i have the autometer steel braided line running from my block to my sender unit on my fire wall... i do notice that mine drops about 15-20 psi... depending on my oil temp @ the time
