Hey what's up? I got a 94 GSR and it wont start. I push started it yesterday but today it won't start at all. I installed a brand new starter today so i guess that's not it. It sounds like the starter is turning when i turn the key but it's not engaging. None of my pulleys move or anything, just the rubbing sound from the starter. Any suggestions?? could it be my flywheel, relays????? Thanks guys.

 

did you remember to plug the starter back in? does your accessories work?? it could be the battery.

 

plugged starter back in reconnected battery, etc. All accessories work fine. Still doing the same thing as with the other starte so just figured that wasnt it...

 

Check to see if your getting any fuel...turn the key on and see if you can hear your fuel pump cut on.

 

fuel pump primes fine...

 

Ok...are you getting any spark? check your plugs.

 

well, since your starter isnt engauging your flywheel (you said your engine wasnt even turning) maybe your flywheel is damged. A tooth or two chipped or ground off and there is nothing for the starter to grab.
But then again, maybe you got sold a crappy starter.

 

Haha, it sounds like your distributer took a ****. check the cap and rotor.

 

I'm getting spark, I also think it's my flywheel cause it used to make almost a grinding noise when downshifting in 2nd gear. It has some miles on it and I was looking to change the clutch & flywheel and i guess that will come sooner than later. Thanks a lot for the help guys & good luck!!!

Also, if i replace my flywheel, would I need to replace my starter again?? Would the teeth be too messed up to grab my flywheel again anyways? Thanks again

 

Checkout your timing belt, It might be broken.

 

is the check enginwe light on? any codes ??

 

no check engine light and no codes but the car won't start to see if the CEL is on or not

 

im having trouble..something like urs.. my 2000 gsr just got new cam gears, water pump, timing belt, head polished and ported, dc header, obx cat, apexi exhaust, well the car is finally back togather and they cant get it on... they have no idea what it is because the car wont start, i cant get any codes and the check engine light isnt on either...

by the way its cranking and sparking .....turning over

I have also been having the same problems as yours. Me and Ludetuner are completely boggled? 2 days ago it wouldn't start at all, then it would turn over but bearly. Like you could count the strokes. I kept my foot to the floor and it finally turned over and the engine raced and was started. I got it home then shut it off. cranked it back over and it worked again perfectly. Now it wont start again. So confused. I have looked for all of the faulty wiring I can cant seem to find anything. I have even tried jump starting it have come to realized it is not the battery. any other suggestions would be greatly apreciated

 

try to check the air sensor by the intake manifold it might not workin and check some fuel components too....
