LSVTEC without the H
you're right about all that if the people doing the swap spells VTEC with an H but if it's done right, it can be a very reliable setup.

if the time is took out, and do some homework it can be a good engine. mine was together for 3 years boosted and it never had a easy day. it would have been longer but my stupidity melted a piston but im going back with it cause i was happy

its vtec

You're never going to hear the end of this whole thread. People have been doing the LS/VTEC or B20/VTEC engines for the past 5 years, if not more. There are probably 100's of pages that you can read about it, here and more widely across the internet. Just dig deep and you'll find it. With a setup like that, you need to be precise and sepcific.

Not only did he do it twice, but the "h" key is not even close to any key in the spelling of vtec.
He didn't know how to spell it, regardless he needs to do more research. Unless he trusts a few random HT members with his money, and the results he is going to get with his car. HE NEEDS TO DO MORE RESEARCH.

the only thing i can suggest is do a search in the archives on ls/vtec's. there's a shitload of info out there. i've learned a hell of a lot of stuff while deciding to build my ls/vtec.

search, search, search!!!!!
search, search, search!!!!!
It's amazing how many people just kinda stopped by and replied on you spelling vtec wrong. Anyways, ls/vtec's can be reliable. It really just depends on how well it's done. Then again, that kinda applies to everything. Even putting a turbo on, if done right it can work very well and never give much trouble. Then again, it can go exactly the opposite and give you more problems than you know what to do with.
The best thing to do, like stated earlier is just research. There is are a lot of places that cover how to do it. Another good idea may be to find somebody who has actually done it, and talk to them. A lot of times, just talking to somebody who has done something, can save you a lot of time, headache, and money. Chances are people have already run into the most common problems, and found ways to solve them. Good luck to ya!

yea thats what ive heard.
i think the people who told me there is nothing but problems with the ls/vtec are the people who just didnt do it right.
i just need to talk to more people.
but i think ill just boost the ls instead.
lol

why? go home.
ls vtec can be done very reliably, ive only got about 1500 miles on it so far, with no real problems (leaked coolant, gas from the fuel rail (custom fuel rail), and oil from the valve cover gasket, no prob). its a sweet motor... i do belive u NEED different pistons, because the valve relief for non vtec pistons is less than for the gsr or itr ones.... im using b16a pistons, they yield about 11.6:1 compression
a gsr ecu is helpful, but ur gonna wanna get a complete wiring harness and install a knock sensor (i did neither, and im using an ls ecu and a v-afc2 for now, damn.)

I put together an lsvtec a little over 4 years ago and there has been no problems with it at all except it blew an oil line once shortly after it was put together. Luckily lost less than a quarter of a quart. Fixed that and am happy to say the car has had no problems what-so-ever. If it's done correctly it will be as realiable as any other engine.
i got no oil leaks runs strong until i sold the car without the motor now the motor is in my garage...
compression is very high no problems at all....only problem was the distributor
