Another Stolen Type R. #00-626 [Idiot Thieves]
Well my 2-way alarm went off like usual, but this time my entire alarm was going off. My dad and I checked the front door to find nothing, if only we had gone out and patrolled the area. We went back to sleep, and about 5 hours later my dad wakes me up asking if I took my car somewhere in the middle of the night. With a half cross/scared look on my face, I respond simply, "No, WTF?!" I get up, and look out the front door to see that it's gone. Many thoughts were rushing through my head, but were soon interrupted by the ring of my other phone line. My dad had already called the city cops, and the county cops called saying they had found my car on the side of the road about 15-20 miles from my house.
After hearing this news, I was in fact somewhat relieved. I began to calm down a bit, and just wanted to see the car at the lot where it was being held. To my dismay, thanks to the idiot cops and their lack of description of the case, I saw my car from a different light than I had hoped. I arrived not knowing what was up with my car, but soon found out it had been crashed into a tree in a ditch. Right down the center, leaving the front resembling the shape of a "V". I feel the thieves did it intentionally, and had no initial intentions to strip the car. I mean, if that was their sole purpose for stealing the car, they would've simply taken it to a shop and stripped it. They wouldn't have gone joyriding and crashed it. BTW, the road it was crashed on is a windy one, something people go to drive for fun on. But of all things after finding my car, I was shocked more than anything, and just wish I had woken up, because afterall I always keep my 2-way remote on the pillow RIGHT NEXT to my head.
Although I'm glad it wasn't stripped, they did manage however to steal my friend's Spoon ECU, my Skunk2 shiftknob?!, my VAFC (which wasn't even hooked up), my Motorola 2-way, and my tight *** $50 Super-flux LED flashlight that my bro got me. But I'm sure it's already been stripped by whomever bought it at the salvage auction. And as my losses weren't as heavy as some others lately (i.e. Len, and once again I can't even begin to describe how I feel for you. But I'm glad to see there's a tinge of a smile on your face in those pics. As well that your family is safe. And endless list of things to be said..) I still feel the pain of losing the R, in an unfair manner.
Anyway, here are some pics of the loss..

I live in Fairfax. And I am sad to say the car was not fixable. The frame was out of alignment, so they deemed it totaled. I was thinking about buying it back to part it out, but the insurance company gave us $20,650 for the car.. I bought it for 17,500.
That's one thing I love. The value of the car holds up better than a brick house. It's about a 4.5 year old car, that only depreciated by about $4000.
So that's an upside for all of you in the future, if by chance your car is stolen. Just don't settle for less, and if they try to lowball, show them autotrader ads to prove what ITR's are selling for.
