Question:
Is Sauber using a old Ferarri engine this year?? F-1 commentator said that they are, and he kept calling them the "blue Ferrari" team?

no. they are using the exact same spec engine as ferrari.
would have been too costly to make last year's engine good for the entire weekend and also this year's engine. so sauber have benifitted from that rule. although their race performances certinaly have not.

Goes to show how important the chassis is compared to the engine...

The chassis they are using is ever so slightly different from last years Ferrari Chassis hence some of the name calling. I have a complete write up in an early 04 issue of F1 magazine that compares and discusses the similarities and differences between the "03 Ferrari chassis and the "04 Sauber chassis. Almost identical but still within the rules, is what i remember being written. As well that issue gave a great rundown on all of the cars, teams, drivers and all of the courses. It's almost like Cigar Afficiondo for F1 enthusiasts with beautiful pics and some dry British humor tossed in the mix.
I'll go brush up on the article and add some more here later.
I'll catch the beginning of the race tomorrow but will be going to work by 8:30 and will rewatch everything tomorrow night over a monster steak and some Foster's

anton,
are you talking about F1 Magazine or F1 Racing? i have every issue of F1 Racing from december '01 and it is the best magazine on the market. i do remember a article about the similarities between the current sauber and F2003GA.
the other magazine, F1 Magazine, was crap. iirc it changed hands last year and was actually being published by formula 1 but i think it is no longer.

The US GP track is totally gay. The should use either Elkhart Lake or Laguna Seca..those would be hella nice tracks for these cars to run on.

Lance, yeah F1 Racing. I picked it up on a whim since I started following F1 a bit closer last season and thought the issue I found had some great introductory info on everything for me to absorb. Yes, must have been the comparo that you are mentioning.
You'd probably be alot better at explaining the comparison and articles then.

I missed the live qualifying this morning but will catch the rebroadcast @ 1AM, and then the race live starting @ 7:30 several hours later.
Should be an even better race than last week's.

Finals start in less than in hour.
Here are my predictions:
1. M. Schumacher
2. Truli
3. Barrichello
4. Sato
5. Button
6. Alonso
7. Montoya
8. R. Schumacher
Comments:
-Although I'd like to put Sato on the podium, I don't think he's quite there yet. I think he's an excellent starter, but he has a stamina problem and can't hold off others very well. Hope I'm wrong though.
-Button will charge ahead, but I don't it'll be enough to be in the top 4.
-Montoya complained about setting problems with his car. I don't see that going away this race.
-Barrichello and M.Schumacher will be in their usual forms. But I think Truli has a slight edge over Barrichello and their finish will be close. It will be quite a challenge for Barrichello to make up places to give Ferrari a 1-2 finish.
-Alonso's car isn't quite there this time around.
