Default do i really need to disable SRS>?

i'm installing a new climate control panel and my hayes manual says very strictly to disable the airbag system.

is it really necessary?

I dunno, I didn't disable mine when I changed the bulbs in my climate control. You might want to just disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes to be safe. You have to take the radio out anyway to get the climate control out, so it's not like you won't be losing your presets anyway.

Disabling the air bags is no big deal. You usually just have to unplug 1 thing. That's much safer than ******* with them when they are plugged in IMO.

disconnect the battery, then unplug two connectors(one for each airbag). 5 minutes of work and you won't have to worry about a broken nose when the airbag "accidentally" goes off on you for not doing it right the first time!!!

the airbag wont go off, dont wory about it, the only way it will go off is if your mom pulls into your driveway and smashes you head on when you are taking your dash apart. Besides that its verry hard to accadentally set off the air bag. so dont worry about it.

yeah, except any sort of electrical discharge that may occur(very common) could trigger the air bag and make it explode it your face. Think before you speak.
