Default Alternator Power Wire Shorted!!! no 56k for joo

Hey guys, so my system is basic:

(1) RF 1051S
(2) Farenheit CK12D's
Red top Optima Battery
Regular Alternator from Autozone

I know, I know, I should be running a better alternator but autozone's lifetime warranty is good and these alternator's usually last me like two years.

But here is the story, driving like normal last night, Electronics start to die and Instruments are goin crazy, figured ok, probably my alternator, been in this position before, just need to get towed, take the alternator to autozone and get a free replacement, well, that was last night, got home at like 5, get up this morning and pull it into the garage after battery has been charging all night, start pulling off connections to alternator and find this:

I'm just like dubya tee eff mate? I look where the connections lead and that is to the main wiring harness, and I DO NOT want to have to go through and replace a whole wiring harness because of one short on an alternator connection.

My Question is, do you think I have to replace the whole wiring harness or can I just use a new alternator and crimp on a new o ring for the connection to the old shorted wire? Thanks.

ha ha i'm such a bad *** i looked at with 56 k!!!

BTW since you dont' really got anything to loose I'd say try cutting off the junk part and heavyduty crimping on a new length of wire with o connector at the end make sure you go crazy with the electrical tape. For my power wire i also put a cut up sock around it to prevent anything from getting close to the wire. BTW did it short out on the cruise control diafram thinger?

Ya shilly badassh!
What I ended up doing is using the 92-96 lude wiring harness that I got with my swap and just extracted the alternator wire that runs from the Fuse Box to the alternator, all I have to do now is put a plastic protector lining that you can get form like autozone and run the wire, I'll also get a free replacement alternator and I'll be good, just have to push the old alt wire that runs through the harness aside.

It didn't actually short out on the cc diaphram, it was just like that when I removed it from the alt itself, so I guess the Alt just completely shorted out. With that system I'm running it puts a big load on just an autozone alternator. I guess that is what happened, it's my only theory as far as it getting shorted out on while connected to the alt.
