touch-up paint turns gray when wetsanding.
trying to fix a dime-sized scratch on my fender. we had it all filled in....paint around it to feather it out, but as soon as we take some wet sand paper to it, it turns gray on us. (600 grit or 1500 grit)
it's white, acrylic laquer spray paint. (the same stuff i did the side moldings with...and they look perfect)
we waited 3 days after painting before sanding to make sure it was dry.
what am i doing wrong???
tia.

gray sandpaper.
it's wierd that the paint would make the grain from the sandpaper stick to it though. i've tried washing the spot thoroughly to get the grayness out....i've tried rubbing compound...but it just stays gray.
