Wiring up JDM Guage Cluster--difficult?
I just bought a 91 EF hatch, and I want to install the JDM guage cluster from, say, and SiR EF. What's the difficulty in this? From the pics I've seen of the guage clusters, it doesn't seem plug & play. Are the USDM EFs prewired for things like the tach that the JDM SiR cluster has? Anything else I should know?

the jdm ef9 cluster is basically obd1.
so you would need to convert your b series 91 hatch to obd1 for the cluster to work.

Please, if you do not know what you're talking about, I'd keep my comments myself
Anyway, Cluster swap is not that difficult. Scale from 1 to 10, I'd say a 6. I suggest getting a pin tool (paper clip will do) for cleaner transfer of wires although you have to extend a couple of wires for better fitment. I don't have the instructions off hand but pm me later in the day (this evening) or I'll post em when I get home. btw, you need and electronic VSS to make this work and you definitely do not have to convert to obd1

i did the swap as well, just make sure your getting a good electronic vss, i went through 2 b4 i got a good one.
and the reason for doing the swap is for one to have a better looking cluster, and the main reason to have a cluster that hasa redline of 8K like for b16 swaps
heres a writeup:

id reccomend getting some paste solder and heat shrink tubing so you dont have alot of tape behind your cluster
