Default Went to track and blew.....

Well after getting the car tuned last week (232.7 HP w/ 145 T) getting it painted and ready to go I take it to the track for a test and tune (1/8th mile track) before going to gainsville.

I run the car 3 times and on the first run I take it easy. Second run I feel and notice the car drove and felt a bit different, the third run I go this......

Back to the drawing board!

My guess is improperly torqued rod bolts. Who built the motor?

could be some sort of failure with the rod bolts.

We have built many many motors, and everything on this set-up was to spec. Unfortunate for us it went like that!

I did read that some of you think it was bad tuning. The car was just tuned a week prior @ NRG in Tallahassee. (232hp & 145 torque) I thought the torque was a bit low and I actually expected to have more HP than I did with the set-up I had going?

What a bummer.

Well now you have a reason to go bigger and better Maby you could replace those rods with those new golden eagle titanium h beams.

Just curious. How did you torque the caps? Stretch Gauge or a torque wrench?

look @ the heat on the rod
it was oil starvation
check yur oil pump
if a rod bolt breaks or a just a plain rod failure
the rod will be looking brand new
no heat marks

It looks like there's no oil in the motor that can be a problem, but Iam sure there was.

They were crower rods, but like any metal it will give if something is wrong or not right.

I have never had any problems before in the past with them. Ever! I would use them again. What I see/think failed was the rod bolt and not the rod.

As far as oil goes we had purple in there 5 quarts and it was changed right before we went to the track.

Still a bit baffled. Over it already and ready to start over again!

Give it some time, I am a believer in the K-Series becoming what the B-series became in the mid to late 90's!

Stock on Stock the K obviously has more power and torque, when all the goodies come out in full force for the K-Series people are going to forget the B-Series (yeah right).

Still the K-Series show promise! We'll see!
