Honda guru's! help with a SOHC VETC in a 87 CRX HF
I have a 87 CRX HF that I recently acquired and I want to throw in a 93 SOHC VTEC into it.
I tried reading this thread: d16z6 or d16y8 in crx but it just confused me with the y8, a6....stuff. I'm new to Honda's mainly work on Toyota's but the price was right on this Honda and parts (Free :D)
I'm wondering if you guys can help me out on what parts do I need to accomodate the new engine? will it bolt up to my tranny (also of note the engine was bolted to a slushbox)? I have an ECU (weird considering it's carb'd) but do I have to swap that out? or can I just "upgrade" it?
I'm pretty sure the fuel system needs to be upgraded, yes? no?
wiring harness, can I get a 85-91 fuel injected harness (from the junkyard) and just "upgrade" that or is it cheaper and less headaches to just buy one?
anything else I might've missed? emissions stuff (there are tons of vacuum hoses in this thing)?

Wow, you have a lot of work. First, this motor does not bolt in and wont use your axles. You'll need to move your motor mounts and make custom axles. Second, to use a fuel injected motor in that car, you'll need to run new fuel lines and put in a new electric fuel pump. You'll also have to swap in a wiring harness. You're probably in over your head if you don't have much Honda experience.
exactly, your best bet is to either get a 86-87 D16A1 which is from a Integra, or get a brown/olive top (valve cover) ZC...you have to wire the entire car, and do the fuel lines, fuel pump and gas tank from an 85-87 CRX Si...you can talk to MangledCRX he put in the D16A1 into a 87 HF...that is his AOL S/N...
