AKH Toda Type-R in Dec 2001 Superstreet, 205 WHP 13.3 @ 101 MPH, anyone have the issue yet?
I was reading up on the article on the AKH Type-R. It has a similar set-up to mine and runs low 13's, it kinda encourages me that I can run similar or better times hehehe. What do you guys think? anyone read the article?
I'm gonna email AKH and ask if that 14 mile time was on street tires.

Article doesn't say, but I know that he's using 11.4 compression, Toda pistons, Spec B cams, Portflow headwork, ATS FD, and basically all the Toda shelf products, basically I got most of theiur stuff or something equivalent to it.....
Man I like the Red recaros in that car too.
As for torque numbers, I dont know.

For all that work he had done to it that's a pretty slow time. He should be in the 12's with all that work.

i thought that issue wasnt comin out till january....at least that's what allen said, the owner of the car.....ol well. i like that car ...i talked to him awhile back and he said after the photo shoot he took all that stuff off...the side stripe, those black mirror's..and the carbon fiber hood....toda
I am sorry, but I wasn't all that impressed with that car. But thats just me. I am more of a JUN man also. It just seems like the car should have been faster?

.....That had to have been on slicks.
The headwork and the ats fd definitely is helping him out. I wonder what his car's weight was...
Was he still running the stock 5 lugs up front? Or convert to smaller spindles to run smaller rims with slicks?

that car still had full interior. i saw pics had stereo system and all. i don't think the 13.3 has to be on slicks with that power.
I'll bet you money that is on slicks. Sorry, but you need 240whp to run 12's on street tires... That MAY BE on some street slicks like nitto 555's, but that's it... A lot of people have trouble dipping into the 12's on 13 inch slicks with a little over 200whp in street trim.
Since that's an akh car, I wonder if he's running the toda header or something like hytech...
Nice car. WHen i dynoed at NOPI is was sitting beside the dyno. I figured it was powerful...but damn! I would like to know what kind of header he is running. I cant wait til i pull 200whp out of my hybrid hatch!
I was pretty impressed with the car myself. 13.3 if it were on street tires would be VERY impressive IMO. I doubt he had street tires though. He's probably running a 15" set of slicks.

Are you sure it's 11.4 compression and not 12.4? Unless TODA Racing makes custom pistons, the compression ratio for their TODA pistons on Type-R's start at 12.3:1.
Check here for details: http://www.todaracing.com/B16A.html
But I know they make all kinds of **** in jdm land that we can't get over here... They would even build you a motor if you wanted...
The AKH car had the head deshrouded to achieve the 11.4:1 compression.
I think that time is awesome....had to have slicks.

I'll have to check this article out. Is this the same car that was in the TYPE R Test in SCC?
Yeah, that was the same car in scc a while back. Check out the info on toda's site: http://www.todaracing.com/project.html
I wonder what ecu he's running... Portflow headwork too...

Yeah you bring up a good question, I need to go to the Toda website to see info about the engine buildup, but yeah it should have higher compression.
Running 13.3 at 101MPH with 205hp isn't all that impressive IMO. My R went 12.93 at 104.6MPH with stock pistons, stock head w/Toda B's, and the Spoon header. I think my car is making about 200HP to the wheels right now.
13.3 at 101MPH is somewhat impressive though. The guy must be a decently good driver.

on getting into the 12 second club!
Terry:
I think I am a good driver too. Back in the old days of fountain Ave and franny Lew I ran pretty well, and rarely got taken out.
Its hard to believe that your car is running that fast with the set-up that you have, but I'm pretty sure a good weight loss program, plus slicks and traction control will help a great deal.

i don't think there car is set up for drag... they just did it to get an idea of what kind of times they can run in a striaght line.
