How to remove copper spray from a head gasket?
As the title says, I fugged up and some particles got stuck underneath the coating of copper spray. What should I use to remove the copper spray? I hope I don't have to buy a new HG, since they're a $100 from the dealer

know what i'd try? there is a product you can buy at most places called goo be gone or goo remover. it basically removes glue/gooie chit. I use it whenever i need to get crap off everything...like when stores put their price tags on the product themselves like picture(glass) or stainless things. also...more then likely mineral spirits will do it as well. just make sure you clean it thoroughly when your done with whatever you use.
the best way to get off copper spray is to get some kind of plastic pan put gas in it and let the head gasket soak for like 10 min. then wipe off copper spray. if theres still more copper spray to take off let it soak again. i usually tear the gasket apart so u could get in each layer. pop those rivets off and clean each layer.
thanks to all who replied
i ended up having some generic goo remover that was safe to use, so i used it and it came right off. actually... it took 2 times, cause the first time, the copper stuff just kinda smeared everywhere. thanks again!
