out with D15B2, in with D16B6 - couple easy questions.
here's what i'm picking up this weekend:
D16B6 motor, tranny, ecu, cai, throttle body, and a few misc parts.. all out of the same crx, all ready to go.
1. i've done a lot of searching.. most of the swaps i've read about are going from D-series to B-series, or some of the very helpful how-tos dont really specify. will i have to go as far as removing the axles to do the swap ?
2. with the complete engine, tranny and ecu, will i have any problems just dropping the engine in, plugging in the ecu, and being done ? i'm understanding that i'll have to do the typical MPFI re-wiring, but other than that, i should be good to go, right ?
thanks in advance for the input.. this'll be my first swap, and a lot of the stuff i've ready are really detailed about swapping in a B-series, so i'm trying to sort out what relates to this, and what doesn't.
soon as this is done, it's Z6 head time

You mean a D16A6? Easiest way to swap it in, IMO, is to just pull the engine and tranny out together, then couple the tranny with the new engine out of the car, and then throw them both back in.
well, that's actually my plan..
the engine i'm getting comes with the tranny. it's complete, it's together, and it's going in in once piece..
but that doesn't answer my questions..

again i assume you mean d16a6.
1. are you serious? if the axles are connected to the tranny, and you need to take the tranny out, do you think you need to remove the axles?
2. you should be all good, assuming you know what you're doing and have the tools. MPFI wiring and all.

yes D16A6, my bad..
1. this is my first swap, first fwd, etc.. i asked because i didn't know.. now i know.. i just thought the axle switching was a D-series to B-series thing.. thank you for clearing that up for me.
2. sweet. know what i'm doing swaping this engine ? nope. know what i'm doing around cars in general ? deffinatly. it'll be a new experience for me, (much like even 'owning' a front wheel drive is new to me), but from the howto's, guides, etc that i've been reading through from searching, it would appear to be pretty straight forward a swap. pull axles, pull engine/tranny, drop new engine/tranny, replace axles, switch out ECU's, wire for MPFI..
i've gotta tell ya, that search thing (once you know what to search for to answer your questions) can't be beat.
the sticky FAQ thread up top is a world of information all by itself..
thanks for the info

Had me scared there for a second.. I thought you removed a dx motor for an hf motor..
