92 Prelude SI worth $4000 before mods? Should I buy...
Well, I have been looking at this Prelude, it is a 92 SI with of course the H23. All that has been done to it is Headers, and a Full Catback system. Basically, I was wanting it to put a H22 in. After test driving it, there was 3 problems, one was a oil leak from the Oil Filter. No biggie, but the other was it is going to need a new radiator. Everything else was fine. Windows all good, body was pretty good, moon roof and all that worked great. Last problem was the SRS light was on. It doesn't have a Salvaged Title. I don't want to get a Project car that is going to be a project before I get the Engine I want in it
. The price they are asking is as is. I have been reading alot in these forums for awhile, as I have 2 Accords now (92 and 97) Any experience you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Check the body seams to make sure they're all even.
this is a good way to see if it has been in a wreck b4.
how many miles on it?
leather or cloth interior?
have you checked the vin to see if it's a lemon or anything?

Thank you for your reply. It has a 170,000. (Alot, I know but if it still runs good long enough for me to drop the engine in it in a couple of months) Body seams were all even. It has the Cloth Interior. The Vin number has came up with 18 Records. JHMBB2154NC009409. I just don't want to make a $4,000 mistake. Anytime I see Oil I kind of worry. I have done alot of research and won't buy this car unless it is a good deal, but the problem is KBB, and NADA seem to have different ideas about whats a good deal. Thank you for your reply. (2 post left for the day.)
I bought my 92 Si 4WS with 156K miles for $1800. It needed some work though. Exhaust, clutch, tires, and axles. However, these were things I was going to change anyway.
I got ALL the records for the car and it was adult owned.
I have 170K miles on mine and I don't have ANY leaks what-so-ever. It was well maintained and any car that has been would not leak IMO.
Personally, I would NEVER buy a car that was modified and owned by a kid. You are really asking for trouble. But hey, that's just me.
If he was selling it for $1500...I would buy it. But not for $4000

I bought my 92 Si w/H22a swap for $4300 from a guy on here (chk4tix) I would assume you could find a better deal for $4000. Have you checked out any of the cars for sale on here. Alot of these guys arn't selling bs and are cool people too.

Well, I basically don't want to miss an opportunity. I will end up picking it up next Friday so I hope I can figure out something soon (Like I will have to put $500 down this Saturday.). How much of a pain in my rear is that SRS light going to be? Will it shut off when I put a new ECU on it after the swap? Since I can't post I believe anywhere in the Classified section because I am new, who has seen a good deal? Drop your email if you have a good deal. Honestly and obviously, I am new to this whole thing. I don't want a super fast car, but I have always loved the Ludes (92 and up) and I only plan to run in the end maybe 10 pounds of boost. I want to drive comfortably daily though. If anyone has links on here to get me in the right Direction it would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached by email @ taiji67401@yahoo.com . I will dig around to see who is selling what, but I can not spend more than $4,000
Thanks everyone again for your input. I hope I can own a Prelude soon with everyone. 1 post left for the day!!! If you can drop any Heres Help bombs it would help a newb greatly.
