Default DIY Paint job? post pix!

has anyone done their own paint job??? if so.. show pix!!!


i am doing my jdm conversion and lots of other body mods and am thinking about painting the car myself...

if you guys done ur own.. let me know some tips and like.. what i would need.. any paint sprayer suggestions.. etc

and no... i am not going to do a spray can job.. most likely i'm taking it to a shop.. but i'm just interested in what is needed to diy

if you have never painted before i would recommend you take it to a professional, but if your willing to learn it then you need to do some serious reasearch then get some equitmnet and practice. its not brian surgery, but it takes practice to get things just right. first you need to fix inperfections like sratches or gashes with some putty then prime and smooth with by water sanding with some 500 or 600 grit wet paper and a block, I use 3m paper, with water and a mild soap. i mix greased lighting half and half with water. then when spray on color and clear coat and then let dry and sand the clear to get out any dust or fish eyes then buff to a shine.

Please don't paint your car yourself. Good paint jobs are HIGHLY dependent on experience, and most good painters have YEARS and YEARS of experience.
