You need to flush your system. I most definately wouldnt risk leaving PS fluid in my brake resevoir. Safety comes first IMO. You never know what might happen. Did he put brake fluid in the PS resevoir too??
You got to drain, flush and fill . You should not have to add no brake fluid to the brake reservoir. As you brakes wear the fluid will reduce then when you put on new brake pad the fluid will go back up to the top! Replace the fluid back to were it was and keep your dad out of your engine!
Of topic but my sister in-law had a gas station attendant add engine oil to the auto transmission and hence had no oil in the engine and bye bye enigine.

does anyone know the effects of doing this to your brake system ?
i do i had a customer come in with this problem but for him it was too late and we had to change the master cylnder proporton valve calipers and wheel cylnders ....
when the two fluids mix they expand causing the brakes to always be applied and tears up all the rubber parts in the brake system
i would do asothers have said and suck it out right away and flush your brake system with at least 2 big bottles of brake fluid
