Default 1988 Prelude PROBLEM!

hey i am a noob i might hav missed this topic or somethin but i got a question anyways... (tell me if i mess up anything)

aite i have a 88 prelude it is a Prelude SI 2.0 L 4 cyl.
and there is a problem wit the speedometer i get a flashing S3 light and my speedometer doesnt work, all the check engine n battery lights go on, also on occassion my car stalls on me usually when this prob is goin on. and this problem comes and goes. i asked a mechic about this problem he said that if i changed some chip that controls the s3 light the speedometer would work ... i was wonderin if i do this will this also stop the stalling that happends when i do this? also i want to know if anyone else has this prob n how to fix it...?

is the speed sensor cable driven or is it electrical?

if it is electrical and i think it is inspect the electrical part of the speed sensor.
