Default 91 crx w/ b16a and many mods... baseline DYNO graph

well i finally got my base line dyno last night and figured i would share with all of you.

here is the car...

here is the setup.

b16a, zydyne single wire ECU...unknown program... type r cams, dc sports adjustable cam gears, mild p&p, 3 angle valve job, shaved .030, removed middle gasket from head gasket, estimated 11, 8, 1 compression, unorthodox racing underdrive pulley, no name intake, k&n filter, DC sports 4-1 header, Thermal exhaust... thats about it for the motor...

here is the result

not bad for a 1.6

BTW there was no tuning done... the timing was advanced and power increased, but the mid range suffered for it so it was put back the way it was.

What elevation were those pulls at? Were the cam gears run straight up? With those mods, seems like you've got a good 10-15 HP hiding somewhere. You running a stock cat?

Those numbers are kinda on the low side considering what you've done to the motor. I guess you still need to play with the cam gears to get the full potential of the motor.

Kinda low? Those numbers are really low. You can easily grab another 20-25 hp at the wheels. You need a better tuning device V-AFC or something. And tune those cam gears better. 137....you get a B16 to Dyno that with a AEM and set of good headers......

cam gears were set at 1 intake and 3 exhaust i think ... it may be the other way around...

i need to contact zydyne to find out what program this ecu is running. better yet i need a hondata! im sure there are quite a few ponies left in there. i believe those are the corrected #s i have to call the dyno and find out.

im going to start searching for other b16 dynos to see how close i am to similar setups.

THAT IS AWEFUL!

No offence man, but that engine definitely needs some work. With the headwork, compression and cams you should be able to pull quite a bit more.

My internally stock B16 mad 137/107 with auto cams. You need to go back and do some tuning.

I'll clear some stuff up. Theres no mild port theres just a v-job. He runs a stock size cat with the thermal stealth exhaust. Now dont chime in and say they dont make a stealth for the crx because it was custom made for him by thermal. Not bad for a 15 year old motor. Also one of the combustion chambers was crushed in the head and re welded so were at a loss in that cyl for sure. It ok though , I think we have enough parts to slap together a ls/vtec for it. I think the runs were like 144 uncorrected.

seeing dyno's like this makes me think that my b16 isnt so strong afterall. All those mods and 140whp? 160 is the crank HP. Hmm i dunno, but boost comes to my mind.

Wow. Those numbers are very low considering all those mods that are done to the motor.

did u advance or retard the cam gears? If u drop compression with headgasket/shaving u need to retard and if u use a thicker gasket u need to advance

Out of curiosity did u buy that car off some tool in Poughkeepsie?

jdm itr cams 97 spec
cheapo intake
2.5 inch exhaust
zdyne 1 wire ecu
and a ur racing pully

You got it backwards, if you shave a head your timming retards so you will need to advance the gears.

Yeah he did get it from some tool upstate. what a hack. we had to rebulid the whole damm car. The motor that came in it was blown, we reused the head, but that is all fugged up too with a welded up combustion chamber. I'm curious to see if theres actually type r cams in it. I dint actually look at them when we put the new bottom end in to check to see if they were.

My roommate(who is also a Tuner) has told me he has pulled close to 160 to the wheels with just I/H/E on a B16 with CTR Cams, and a socketed ECU(he writes his own programs...gotta love it!)

chiming in late....

thanks for clearing some things up Tbone...

yes i bought the car from some tool in poughkeepsie. actually i would like to send him some pictures of how the car turned out... if you have his address please contact me... i'll send you a PM anyways.

for what its worth the motor may not be stong or running to its full capabilities, but its still good for a mid 14 second pass and does well on the street for me. yes i know it should make more power, but i really don't care. like tbone said we'll put together another motor :ls/vtec: and go from there.

i just wanted to post up my baseline to show you what the car was pulling... it sucks, but thats what it is. this was a very low budget build and some of the parts that were used...mainly the head... should not have found itself back in the car, but due to budget i had to do what i had to do.

thanks for all the comments
