Default 93 A.T harsh shifting problem ?????

Hi GAng:

I just got my 93 Accord back from a transmission where it had been for 5 months! The expert could not find any reason for the harsh shifting and did everything that he could think of to cure the problem He now thinks that the problem is not in the transmission. Oh yes, I replaced the orginal transmission with one from a junkyard. The orginal shifted harshly until it got to a point where it would no longer transmit power from the motor to the wheels. This did not take long!

On the way home, I thought about this problem and thought that since this problem was present in both the orginal transmission and the replacement one, that the problem may not be transmission related! The comnmon factor is that these transmissions bothe had the same problem in THE SAME CAR! Perhaps it is car related. Would a vacuum leak cause harsh shifting? What would cause a harsh shift in both transmissions?

TIA.

Zeke

How about the torque converter? But you probably changed that with the transmission... right?

What about engine mounts? Maybe what's really happening is the engine is moving too much & you feel it as a harsh shift??
