Gsr motor vs Lud motor
I see that a lot of guys use the B18 motor and i understand that it a good motor. But isn't the motor in the SH-Lude bigger and stronger then the GSR motor??? Oh ya which one makes more power under boost???
i wouldnt say that the h22 is stronger although it is bigger than any b-series motor.....are you planning on rebuilding it or using it the way it is? with boost you can make plenty of power in either engines but i would rather boost a b18c than a h22.
im not a fan of the h-series engines

The reason the prelude is stronger is because it is a closed deck motor vs the gsr being open deck. Nothing sleeves cant fix. Right from the get go i would have to give the advantage to the prelude motor depending on what chassis its in and the drivers skill. You will see more low end torque from the prelude motor. So i guess in theory more driving skill will be needed to drive a prelude motor in a lightweight chassis. Also note that the b18 does have more aftermarket support as far as i know. Nothing custom internals and custom parts cant fix though.
the H/lude motor is known to produce more torque. they are both great motors to build up. but like the other post stated, that there is more aftermarket support for the B-series. In All motor applications, its prefered to use B motors since there are more choices on transmission and gearing. the H trannies dont have much aftermarket options and thats the weakness on H series setups.
but in both setups. anytign is possible. its just B-series motors have just become the popular and common platform.

I'm not going to argue with you here but why is the H22 better? You like the rod ratio and overall design of the motor? Or just the fact that it displaces 200cc more than a sleeved up 85mm B18C and makes more power stock...

not all h22's are closed deck...from 92-95 it was and from 96-up it's an open deck like the b-series.
I'm a huge H fan...but k's are the way to go now

i've seen an h22 swapped civic get beat but a b16 swapped civic. the b16 was stock, h22 had stage3 clutch, lightweight flywheel, both owners were decent drivers. how do you explain that?

comon ronnie u have to have luv for the H
as far as the h22 civic getting beat by the b16 civic i would have to say traction
until i put drag radials up front on my h22 hatch i would easily spin thru 2nd and part of 3rd

I would much rather have topend Hp on a FI car. To much TQ is a bad thing for FWD cars. Over the last 7 or 8 years I have seen a lot of pro racer switch from B to H engines just to go slower
but if you just want to put a stock swap in your car the H22 is faster.

or a prodrive final drive.. i'd like to see more people attempt the b series tranny swap though.. i'll keep my longer gears for future purposes and simplicity but it does make me giddy thinking about how a type r tranny would do on these motors for street applications.

easy with my own car 12.70 @104 with only headers and a chipped ecu and that was in 99" and now i have another eg with prelude 13.00 with nothing.so please dont tell me that a b series will do 13 flat.
