a quick question is the 90std clutch and PP the same as a 89 5speed?

what i'm asking is if the clutch and PP from a 90 std with a 4 speed trans is the same as an 89DX with a 5 speed?

 

no its not the same. it all deppends on the flywheel. if you have a 88-89 flywheel, you need the 88-89 pp/clutch. This is because the 90-91 flywheel has a different number of flywheel teeth than the 88-89. I did the same thing. tried to put a 91 clutch/pp on a 88 flywheel and didnt work. so get the same year clutch as your flywheel.

 

Can i make my std 4 spd a 5 spd without swapping the tranny

Um no you need to swap your 4 speed transmission to a 5 speed transmission.
