prelude trunk parts
The parts on the trunk lid in the back of the 96 prelude, the rods that say "must be attached to trunk arms" . What are those for, can I take them out? They are hitting my speakers in the back and when the speakers hit the metal the speakers cut out. I put a rag in between but it looks sooooo terrible. Anybody know if I can take those out or if my car will fall apart.
Thanks for the response

Yea its a pain int he *** installing them but basically you just have to brute force them and they will pop into place. Beware once they slip into place get y our fingers out of there!! they have alot of tension on them when they are open. You might even want to try going in from the back seat if possible and installing them there wouldnt be tension anyways. Good luck
if they are really rubbing up against them, then you need to add a spacer ring under the rim of the speaker, maybe make a cutout out of 1/2 inch plywood to try and lift them up and away from bars.
Or if they;re barely touching, you can get away with a piece of clear vinyl tubing sliced from end to end so you can get on the bars.
And if your saying "speakers cut out" means that the bars or something else is touching the tereminals or they are loose. Use electrical tape and wrap both terminals at the same time, solving both of the above problems.
