Car looks great. Are the shock towers legal cut in that far though? NHRA told us we couldn't do that? Gardella, Sindicate racing, and a few others had to weld some of the oem towers back on over the tire.

I dont know how serious NHRA is taking it. I've seen a few cars the past couple races that have cut towers and passed tech inspection. :dunno:

pac motorsports' race car is a very good deal as far as price wise ($15,000?) considering they have $90,000 of hard cash invested in to it. I believe you get all of their spare parts too....great deal!

Yes and no.....Vibrant Performance actually has a fiberglass mold which is called "honda universal fiberglass dash" but doesn't come close to fitting so I altered it to fit right then made a mold. I laid carbon fiber on top to give it the look. After I was done with the carbon fiber and fitted up the dash, it somehow distorted out of proportion and doesn't quite fit perfect how it did when I altered it the first time

Suspension, Front:
Upper mounting point for strut assemblies must be in the factory location. Front and rear side of strut tower may be "notched" for tire clearance and area must be refinished with minimum .024-inch steel. Full wheel tubs probibited. Roll-bar tubing maya run across top of strut tower and attach to frame horn.....
As far as the rule book says, and from what I've heard, it's legal. If not, we have the resources to correct the "problem" if it is just that... a problem.
The car will start tomorrow-- it was due to start this past week, but we had a problem with the wiring harness that F.A.S.T sent us-- it was a universal V8 application, yet we wired it for a different harness which was intended for a I-4 import. We overnighted the harness and it will be here tomorrow (5/26/04) so we can start the car-- so I can't tell you exactly how the car runs quite yet, but I have a feeling I'll be plesantly supprised.
I can't reveal details as to what we're spraying... at least for now, because we have yet to start the car with the correct wiring and get it on the dyno. The final decision to reveal technical info like that isn't up to me (it's up to SP Built, the owner and primary builder of the car). Sorry
. As far as the shock towers are concerned, like I said, the rule book says what it says-- whether or not the sanctioning body likes it or not will be decided soon, and we can always fix it quite rapidly from shock towers off a doner car (my old hatch back
) So it's not a huge concern at this point. If worse comes to worst, the season is young for us, as is the car, and we can fix it for many more events to come. Like Sam said, the car is not JJ's... I'll post some preliminary pictures of his new car at the bottom of this post. The car is Sam Park's, and is completely new for the 2004 race season. The dash began as this part from vibrant performance: http://performance.gearheadracingparts.com/ Tony Freeman, our in house motorcycle/ITB tuning/wiring and carbon fiber guy layed carbon fiber over the dash after we fitted the roll cage and cut the dash apropriatly to fit the Air/Water intercooler, water pump, and steering columb. It was then re-sanded and re-resined several times to get a relitivly clean finish for not having a mold to do it with-- and trust me, he invested a lot of time and effort into doing the dash and make it look like it is now (Thanks Tony).
We are very familier with Pac motorsports-- they were just down the street from us, but they had some troubles with business structre and had to liquidate their inventory (to us
)-- now they are exclusivly an Honda/Acura repair center that no longer has its performance oriented division. We are sad to see them leave our local scene, and enjoyed competing against Al and his mechanics and build team. Ther car had an awesome set-up and whoever buys it is getting a very good deal. If you guys have any other questions or comments with the car, I'd be happy to answer them, as would Sam... you're more than welcome to shoot me a private message and I'll answer the questions to the best of my ability-- yet please be understanding that theres certain specifications that we'd love to share, and others which we'd like to (becuase this is a honda community), yet have to keep it in-house to preserve our ability to compete in the NHRA.
Anyway, like I said earlier in the post, the car I have pictures of above is Sam Park's car-- if you would like to see J.J. Olsen's car, here is a link to see pictures that are recent, yet somewhat outdated... thanks for your patients, and thanks everyone for your complements and support. http://importsports.net/projectcar_jj.htm
I got some of Sam's new pics up...I'll try to do as much as I can before I leave to Vegas but if not I guess Sunday or Monday will have to suffice.
