I went over to a friends shop today (B18C5-EG) and we did a roll @ 30 mph in second gear. He has a USDM ITR tranny, I'm supposed to have for arguements sake a 98 spec ITR tranny. Guess what......I spin @ 3500 rpms he spins @ 4000 rpms.
We started thinking of possible theories: I might have a SIR-G tranny with LSD. The tranny does say LSD and the case for tranny is the same color as the block and head (Thinking the previous owner of this motor in Japan had swapped out his ITr tranny for a SIR-G tranny).
I verified the head is @ least a JDM 98 ITR head. There is a serial number to left of the head just above where the year is and this same serial number is on the block and tranny. So I'm 99.9% sure this motor and tranny are from a 98 JDM ITR.
So why is it I seem to have GSR type gearing. Tom drove my car today and he said the gearing seemed a lot taller then his gearing.
Can anyone please help. Miraiz, DrealGSR (Guys ins Japan), Greg, Mike K, Trey, Tony or anyone else that can help. I don't want to tear down the tranny but if I have to I'll wait until I'm doing a clutch and flywheel upgrade.
Thanks in advance guys.

I feel like an antsy parent in the emergency roon waiting for for good news or bad news.
What is your top speed in 2nd gear? (at fuel cut-off)
With the US FD I could nearly hit 100km/hr (60 MPH for you folks)
With the JDM FD I can nearly hit 90km/hr (54 MPH)
If your running with a elevated fuel cut off simply add the difference to my speeds and figure it out.

Maybe the guy who had your tranny originally changed the gears inside it?
Maybe your civic tachometer is not reading right?

Oh yeah I have no fuel cutoff. I have a Kenji reprogrammed ECU and my red line is 9100 rpms.

If the computer cuts the fuel off at 9100 then simply add 8% to the speeds I gave. That should mean that you should get close to 60MHP in second. The tach should also be reading ~9600-9700RPM as well because it is not very accurate up there!

I am running on some GS-R wheels (195-55-15 Toyo FZ4's). My speedometer isn't working the greatest (Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. I'm getting my V-AFC hookup tonite and my JDM Apex'i RevSpeed meter so I should have accurate (OR as close to accurate as possible) rpm and speed readings buy tonite.
Still I don't think my tach is that far off. How about if I keep in 2nd to the redline anyway. That should still be usefull.

When I hit the wall in second my tach is reading ~8900RPM and that is with a 8400RPM fuel cut off. I would doubt that there is much variation of performance between tachs on our cars.
