NSR 50 , how fast??
Yeah, my YSR is an underpowered aircooled heavy weight pig of a mini bike. An NSR must have a higher top speed than that. Should be making twice as much power.
Thats exactly how much power my YSR made on the dyno with a carb/filter/reeds and pipe. And we're talking wheel horsepower. I would think a modern water cooled 50 would make like 15 horses.
I like it. Its not fast, but its cute fun street legal play thing. I think I paid $400 for it, years ago before the prices starting blowing up.

I picked up my YSR race bike for $1000. Its a fun little toy and a cheap way to get into track racing. As of now, I heard there really isnt many organizations that have a class for NSRs and the Metrakit bikes they are racing against is blowing them away
My buddy just explained to me how the NSR is really not a race bike, thats why they don't make good power. For some reason I thought they were. I feel like well designed liquid cooled two stroke 50cc engine is capable of making 15 horsepower... maybe I'm wrong?, whats that like 300hp per liter? The motoGP bikes arent even making that, 2 or 4 stroke.
IIRC the Last of the 500cc GP bikes were making in excess of 200hp. Thats over 400 horsepower per liter. If you break that down to 50cc you have 20hp. I know you can't just scale things down and expect all the other variables and things to scale down perfectly along with the cc, but I still think a really well tuned 50cc race bike, not overbored, should make 15 or 20 horsepower. Err at least if I were shelling out thousand$ for a brand new liquid cooled 50cc two stroke something or other, I damn well better get more than 7 or 8 horsepower out of the box. Thats just pathetic. No wonder YSRs have held their value
too bad you're down in socal or I'd tell you to come by the track. Had a blast yesterday and its only $20 for pratice days (monday and tuesdays from 1-10pm)

The CMRRA do monthly races down here in socal also. I think they do buttonwillow, willow kart track, streets of willow, among others. Unfortunately I don't have all the gear to run, even if I were inclined to go. Back protectors are pretty cheap now tho....I'll be out there eventually.
