anyone have open dump tube sound/vid clips?
i have an open dump tube and i can still hear my blitz BOV i do not hear the turbo that much tho. im sure the n1 catback w/ no cat doesnt help that either..
ive got an open loop wastegate set up... U can hear the turbo spool up till i hit 8 psi (which is wat im supposed to peak at...once i hit 8 psi however you hear a loud *** CSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH till i back out of boost then my BOV goes off and u can hear that.. my tial BOV sounds like a fucken whip being cracked..
I had both closed dump and open dump. And I hated the close dump. It was way too quiet for my tastes. If quiet is your thing closed dump is for you but I paid many thousands of dollars for all my turbo parts, I want to be able to hear cool sounds damn it!

Thanks for your guy's feed back
. So it won't get loud till I hit my max psi, when the waste-gate will start bleeding off excess pressure. So will it get loud if I'm crusing around town and hit maybe 3-4 psi 80% throttle. Or is just under 100% punch and full boost.

I bet you also like to cruise around town setting off your BOV whenever you get the chance...not to be a dick but posts about "how do i make my bov valve flutter" and "will my exhaust set off car alarms" are getting a little old
Hes not asking how to make it louder or anything. It sounds to me like he wants to hear what it sounds like before deciding what to do with his dumptube. Nothing wrong with that. I was once in his shoes.

If thats what he is trying to figure out then i apologize...i missunderstood what he was asking. The best way to avoid the sound of the dumptube is to plumb it back into your exhaust....actually i think the sound of an open DT isn't all that pleasing...imo

I kinda disliked mine only because it was too high pitched. I wish it could be a little deeper then I would have loved it. Maybe thicker piping or a resonator would have helped?
Videos won't do this much justice, On my car when I hit full boost the open dumptube is pretty damn loud. You might still be able to faintly hear the turbo and BOV, but the dumptube will be louder than anything else.
Now when I am not at full boost I can hear the turbo spool and the blow-off valve very clearly.
Personally I like the open dump. Sounds very mean. I may get tired of it sometime, but I can always have it routed into the downpipe.
Anyways here is a vid of my car

??? i don't think that anyone has brought this up yet but.... how are you hearing your dumptube and bov at the same time??? the wastegate vents through the DT under high boost..the bov on teh other hand vents when throttle is released. so how are you hearing both at the same time???

Lol no its just hard to hear the BOV when u let off the throttle at 8K rpm and the dump has just closed. After hearing the loud exhaust from the dump it isnt real easy to hear a little woosh from under the hood.
Now if you were running a closed dump the bov would be very clear

Dude there is NO WAY you are hearing both anywhere near each other!!! its mechanically impossible...it takes less than a split second for the wg valve to shut theres no resonation or anything
Hmm I guess you dont get my point...I will have to teach you like a little kid.... Say you are at a rock concert for a while. When you leave your hearing is desensitized. This is kind of like what I am talking about on a smaller scale. After listening to the dump it is not easy to recognize a little woosh coming from under the hood. Now this is depending on what BOV you have.(if you have the HKS is will always be noticeable)
I would say you might be able to hear the BOV outside the car a little better, but since I've never ridden next to my car I couldn't tell you that...
I have vids of open tube and closed tube cars. In the closed tubed cars the BOV is a lot more noticeable.
And every person is different so do not tell me what I hear and what i don't that is just stupid. If im driving around normal and hit say 5psi, and shift I can hear the BOV VERY clearly. If I hit full boost and shift I dont really hear jack but the dumptube because I'm right back at full boost in the next gear. When I watch that vid I dont hear the BOV from the 1-2 shift.

Ok bro keep no thinking that
So i guess you have this super loud wastegate that keeps you from hearing correctly even after it is shut
FYI i ran 26psi in a dsm and had no problem hearing the bov between shifts...keep talking little boy

LoL
my wastegate isnt super loud. I belive what you say about the DSM 26psi is a lotta pressure to release so I would say your BOV is a lot louder than mine period. I'm running 7psi with a blitz BOV, so its not real loud to begin with...If i have my radio up a little(no bass just factory speakers) I can hardly hear the ****. So if you can hear my bov noticably in that vid inbetween shifts then you have better ears than me
All I am trying to say is it is harder for ME to hear MY BOV inbetween shifts on full boost runs then it is to hear at non full boost accelaration OKAY?
No matter what I say your not gonna be happy (Unless its, YOU ARE RIGHT I CAN HEAR MY BOV VERY CLEARY WHEN SHIFTING AT FULL BOOST) aint gonna happen.
You seem like an *** In your earlier posts also...I dont want to judge you, but thats what I'm gettin

And if you read a little further down you would see that i apologized and misunderstood what he was asking..see i can admit when i'm wrong unlike some people. Look i'm not going to get into a pissing contest with some kid about who has better hearing...and who knows more about blow off valves
enjoy your 7psi
