shifter falls to the floor

Default shifter falls to the floor

two days ago my shifter fell out of my car it pulled out of the bushing i replaced the shifter bushings with ones from energy suspension also decide to switch to a skunk2 short shifter out for a test drive instantly on the 1-2 upshift it does it again anyone who might know what to do please help

there is a little bracket that holds the ball of the shifter in place. i guess it could come loose. i've only heard of that problem with the adjustable ones

Thats funny.. This actually happend to me the other day.. I installed a polyurethane bushing kit in my car and forgot the metal clip on it.. Grabbed on the shifter and it fell right out.. My guess it you dont have the metal clip or its broken or something..

what metal clip the metal band that goes over the bushing is in also the plate thatholds the shifter in place on the torque rod is in the whole shifter pulls the little support shaft out of the stablizer bushing

that happened to me before. I think the bracket that holds the back of the shiftlinkage up was bent or somehing. When the engine would shift when launching the shifter would fall to the floor. I ended up screwing a bolt into the back of the linkage to extend it. kinda ghetto but coundnt think of any other way to fix it.

The metal plate the is metal clip im talking about.. Are the bolt holes stripped or something..

well i put a bolt in it. it speaded the shaft out its not falling out at the moment but there is something else definatly i think it might be the motor mounts since there old and beat up

Time to go to pep boys and get some 3m window-weld and make some new mounts.. Is this an everyday driver or fun car...

yep #19 was the problem for me as well. I screwed a bolt into the end of #15 to make it longer right above where the number 18 is.
