Hi, this is my first post here...

I was wondering if anyone had problem as I do..

my car: 2000 Honda Civic EX - 75,000 miles.

When I accelerate with my AC on, sometimes I would get a strange smell..can't really say what is this..it smells like fuel burn...and then it would go away..it happens only once and for a very short period of time...Sometimes it would not happen at all...and once again, it happens only when I accelerate.

NOTE: if I turn my AC off - I will not get that smell...I can feel it only when AC is on..dunno if that's a standard for Honda cars ?

Another prob... sometimes this strange sound comes up when I press on gas pedal...kinda squiling pitched sound (not loud though)...

if someone knows what can cause some of these problems plz post here.. Thanks.

Sounds like you could use some new belts. They start to get loose around that milage, and can slip with acceleration. Could be the smell you're getting too.

I also agree,
The reason it only comes on with the A/c is because when you turn it on your engaging the clutch on the compressor creating more drag/resistance on the pully so it wont spin as freely. So now on acceleration your putting more torqe on the belt and its slipping cause it needs to be replaced from wear.

And thats the "Why it works - needs to be replaced" section of this thread.....
