no more of this sissy weight reduction, this is the read deal!
I kindof have a "go all out" view on everything, and i decided to do some weight reduction on my 92 vx hatch H22. So i took out..
Starting in the rear
Rear bumper support
rear brakes (they are drums, and 10lbs of rotational mass)(they didnt really work all of the way anyways)
hand brake lines, and lever
spare, jack, tools
all interior body panels except for shift boot (to hide the cable shifter)
rear seats
headliner
all carpet and tar
AC, (did this long ago) (interior in-dash core as well is another 6 most forget)
airbag (went to 90 integra wheel without bag)
front tow hooks
radio & speakers
under-dash supports and air ducting, all hard dash plastic except thet side plates, and the gray radio bezel, including lower center console.
ecu shield
knee shield, this was like 3 lbs!
antenna
front crash beam
driver lock rod (can't lock the keys in it anymore)
all fuse box covers, and unnecessary brackets.
front brake dust shields
then we got serious
cut out all extra layers of sheet metal, and rear seat mounts.
this included
most of the inside sheet of the door panels, 2 of the 3 layers in the flip-down hatch,
most of the inside metal that the sidepanels bolt onto
all of the underhood support beams excpet the one running vertically down the middle.
then to make finding races a little easier
5 cans of flat black in the interior, even without tint you have to know its gone, and be looking to see that it isnt carpeted and stock.
The car is totally stock on the outside, even though it was lowered 2 inches, it is back to stock height, 2 people can bounce the rear 20 inches in the air.
it ran a 13.79 @ 103 with a 2.1 60' about 95lbs ago on a shatty local track that holds most back about .2, and before an XS engineering ECU.
That was on 2 year old all seasons that went through 2 winters, on the stock 13" alloys (that weigh 9lbs) at 20psi (hot) and no lsd
havent gotten a chance to weigh it, but i thought everyone could benefit from such an extensive list, since everything i've found is like "try taking out the spare, i heard it was heavy"
Pictures asap i know

Sounds pretty fun, I wouldn't have taken out the rear brakes, though, just to have the E-brake....but whatever works for you...
Have you thought about a sheet metal interior?
Do you have ABS? (sorry don't know a lot about EG's), I took mine out and there's 30 lbs if you get the sensors and wiring with it...

I give ya credit but Try on top what youve done cutting the front lower core out take out the dash leave the cluster and cut out the rear spare tire and tools cubby remore the gas tank and put a 5 gal fuel cell in
You removed your complete rear brakes?!
Remove the intake manifold support, the washer bottle, the rear wiper, get a fuel cell and run a straight exhaust pipe, and replace the windows with lexan. There's lots of little things I find in the engine bay to remove but never remember later.

Drag only tho, the rear brakes come in handy otherwise

I gotta see pics of this...thats a niiiice *** weight reduction.....estimate on wieght now?? how much you lost??
I hope you are not driving that thing on the street or plan racing it on the track.
Those supports are a must, and rear brakes are pretty much a must too (incase you have to park somewhere, or you are trying to stop from the reverse).

dood.. dash.. take that ****** out and cut it up, fab a small bar system to keep the steering rack up.. im doing that now.. aweosme reductions. Also.. if anyone is just getting into racing/massive weight reduction. Pick up this months import tunner.. they did a awesome section on this topic, and added each part. Where not talking about backseat spare.. they CHOPPED a skunk2 sponsered civic.
you win...the death trap award... for real i hope you aren't driving this down the streets...this is the stuff that makes states like florida that don't have auto inspections a bad idea...
for a track car... sounds great now just get a cage to stop the rest of the metal from crushing you...

phhhhhhh, that all? (jk), now you can't have food for a month and water for a week before your next trip to the track, that's some serious weight reduction! with this method you can dump and extra 100lbs!
