I know that if the digit is a 5 then you more then likely have a XSI engine. This of course may not always be true. If it is unmodifies look to see if it has two O2 sensors. If it does then you know it is a 1st gen engine. Late.

The one thing you need to remember is that if it is a B16 out of a 92/93 XSi it will be OBD1. Even though the trans is basically the same (Cable). The way to tell would be the JDM harness if you have it, by the style of plugs near the strut towers. From what I have seen the 92/93 XSi and the SIRII is the same engine!

The difference between B16s is between 88-91 and 92-93, not whether it came from an Integra or a Civic. The transmissions however are different with the Integra being cable and the Civic being hydro.

there really is no noticble diffrence....both have vtec bigger than dohc on the valve cover....both have nothing on the intake mani.... both have p30 pistons... my xsi came with a cable tranny and lsd... both put out 168ps.... the sir 2/ xsi does not have a thermo fan switch on the back of the block next to the oil filter like the 1st gens.... hope that helps...
