Has anyone bought a JDM DC5-R center console and tried to install it in a US Spec RSX? Would the JDM console fit the US RSX w/out any modifications? Would the JDM E-brake present a problem for the US RSX?

 

it'll bolt up but u will have a small gap up front because of the difference between rhd and lhd. it's small and only noticable if u look for it but i'm **** as hell and it would bother the hell out me

whats rhd and lhd

 

RHD = Right Hand Drive
LHD = Left Hand Drive

 

I installed it in my car. You just need to swap the pieces that attach the USDM console to the dash onto the JDM console.

if you can get a euro LHD DC5r center console, there wouldn't be a gap, i think.

All DC5Rs in Europe are imported from Japan. So, they wouldn't be LHD.

 

if they are for the german market...they would be lhd. just like the CTR. the rhd ITR is not available in england(one of the very few rhd european countries).

They don't offer the DC5R in other countries besides Japan. Check any European Honda site, there's no DC5R. They may be LHD in Germany, but the DC5R is made in Japan. The EP3 is made in England, so that's why they can have both LHD and RHD EP3Rs.

No EP3 is made in Japan. All the hatches are made in Swindon, UK. The only new model Civics that are made in Japan are the 5 door hatch and 4 door sedan. The plant doesn't make any LHD ITRs in DC5. When the DC2 was made, yes they made LHD ITRs. The only countries that got ITRs in the market were Japan (obviously) and Australia, but it was more like a Type S in A-Spec trim. Next model year it is being called a TypeS. If they are selling LHD ITRs, they are not real ITRs from Japan. Or if they were, they were swapped over to LHD by an outside source. The only LHD DC5s made here in Japan are not in R trim.

So what/where is this grey market? You can't go to a dealer in Germany and purchase an ITR, because it doesn't exist.

So to end this arguement, you'll never find a DC5R console that will fit the USDM without a crack. I am not arguing that the DC5 is not seen elsewhere, like the US. I am arguing that the DC5R is not purchaseable no where else but Japan.

i never said the EP3 was made in england. i said the other EP models are made elsewhere, such as japan. the gray market is quite abundant in europe, including germany. whether it be for an ITR or any other type of car. maybe i'm just thinking of the DC2R, for that i apologize. hell, gray market cars can even have a warranty thru the dealers they are sold thru. i lived in frankfurt for q few years. i learned alot about these things while there.

 

I know for sure that the DC2R are in Europe, I seen plenty. But I remember someone from Europe saying that there wasn't any form on DC5 there. They are only imported.

 

When U bought the DC-5R center console did it come with the DC-5R handbrake also? or is that ur stock US RSX handbrake? Because I'm about to purchase a complete DC-5R center console with the handbrake included. I just don't want to put all that money down on the console and find out that it can't be installed. What pieces did u talk about when u said I would need to swap US center console pieces to make the JDM console fit?

 

I'm actually using the stock RSX handle. The JDM is nice, but I couldn't find one at the time. The JDM console will fit, but you will need to swap the front pieces from your USDM console onto the JDM console. The JDM handle will bolt into the RSX.
