i've seen in some of the threads in this forum people comment on the camera used and all that stuff so i thought i'd ask a question or 2 about cameras, if thats cool. I'm trying to get more into digi photo and got some graduation money. i was thinking of going with either the nikon coolpix 4300 or canon a80. both are on ebay in kits with memory cards and stuff for about 350ish. just wondering what you guys would suggest out of those 2 or any others around that price range.

I have a Canon A80 and Nikon 2100. I will tell you that the Nikon takes the best macro shots, and IMO will take crisper pictures than the A80, plus the 4300 is smaller. However the A80 has a nice flip out display screen, records 320x240 movies with sound and feels like its higher quality. This is a CLOSE call imo, but if you can handle not recording sound with your videos(if you use that feature at all), I'd go with the Nikon.

go with the a80...ive seen sick pix from it!

 

no experience with the nikon but i recently purchased a canon a75. i would've held out for the a80 (for the 4mp vs. 3.2 and vari angle lcd) but i wanted the 640x480 movies which the a70 and a75 take vs. 320x240 on the a80... plus it was $100 cheaper.

you cant really go wrong with any of the canon powershot series though.
