Default Diagnostic Codes.

OK, my engine sputters at idle....so i figured it would be the 02 sensor...so i jumped the connector underneath my dash and read the code that the engine light gave me.....4 long blinks, one short....the code is 41...so i looked it up and it says o2 sensor heater....i know where the sensor is, how to take it out and install it...but im just not sure what the heater for it is....im assuming i just have to replace the whole sensor? does anyone know where i can get it cheap?

The heater is built into the sensor. But you might want to check out the circuit first. Corroded/loose/broken wires? Blown fuse? The heater is the 2 black(?) wires. The heater resistance should be between 10 & 40 ohms, and should not have continuity to ground on either side.

But you might want to look for other problems about your idle, tho. The heater only gets the sensor working quickly when you first start the engine. Once it's been running, the sensor should work OK without the heater.

The heater is integrated within the O2 sensor. O2 sensors must be hot in order to work properly. Change the O2 sensor and you're good to go.
