Default Civic Type R tranny?

My friend is trying to sell me a CTR transmission for my 98 ITR. Does anyone have one on their Type R? He told me the gearing would be shorter which would keep me at high RPM's when I shift. How much do they go for used?

The reason I am considering it is because 2 synchros are worn in my tranny. 2-3 grinds every time and 1-2 is starting to go also. The used CTR tranny would be cheaper than getting mine fixed.

oh, thats a very relevant omission you know!!

the civic type R and ITR trannies are pretty similar in price
if the civic tranny is legit and in good shape then go for it
