there's just a lot of junk to remove and it's tough to get in there. Heh that's why I installed mine when the motor was out.

if you're a base model, its pretty easy, should take a first timer about .... 2 hours?
took me 1.5 hours first time around.. 1 hour 2nd time around

its easier to take it out if you take off the TOP half of the intake manifold first, then work ur way around it.. then take the botteom half out last.

why would the SH be so different, especially around the IM?

I don't knwo how much room there is in a 5th gen but in my 4th I had to take the top half off first and then the bottom... The only part that really sucks is the 5 bolts or so on the bottom of the manifold... Good luck

i had to modify mine. apparently an operator loaded the material into the cnc incorrectly. some holes for the studs needed slotting to fit correctly.

to get to the bolts under the IM...you have to come up from under the car to get them...and well what do ya know....the ATTS is there...so you would have to remove the ATTS

No need, you just have to use the correct extensions. Though I never got that vacuum box for the secondary runners bolted back in (need a second pair of hands to help position it) but you can easily do it on a Type-SH with the motor in.

yeah. when i test fitted mine the ports were off so much that i questioned even using it at all. it sat high on the roof and material was protruding into the port from the bottom. deffinately a potential restriction. it easily could have hurt more than helped if i didn't modify it. when tightening the IM nuts i had to hold the gasket up on the timing assembly side to keep it from falling too low, after slotting them.

If anyone else is installing one, CHECK FOR PROPER PORT ALIGNMENT FIRST! otherwise your just wasting money.

Interesting... I hear so many stories about the gaskets not being ported correctly but mine was perfect when I got it...

Can anyone else verify the following statement in reference to installing the hondata IM gasket in a SH?

had mine installed in less than 2 hours. to remove the nuts, sit on top of the battery and stuff your left arm under the im. for the other side stuff your right arm under the im. just move things out of the way. it's not that hard.

im about to do the same gasket install, but im planning on removing the secondary butterflies at the same time. im installing hondata this week also and im switching from my obd-II to a p28 (i was too cheap/impatient to find a p72 obd-I) and i figure since i dont have control over the 2nd butterflies ill just remove them. how labor intensive is this? tips? advice?
