Default just got new Alpine head unit, wants to dim and blink at high volumes

I just got this new alpine head unit, for xm radio. its a cd player, am/fm, xm radio, etc. It's 20 watts RMS x 4. I don't have any subs or an amp. When I turn the volume up, the receiver wants to dim, and blink. Like its not getting enough juice.

its a 1994 honda accord LX 4 door. Anyone have any ideas? I heard the alternator on this car is very low amps..like 80amps..should i get ahigh output 200 amp one?

i would check your ground wires. another thing, your deck shouldn't be dimming since your running no subs or amp, so theres no additional power needed for powering your speakers. are other lights dimming in the car as well, like headlights, dash lights, over head light, map light. if those are NOT dimming, then its probably something with the deck, if they are dimming, then i would say to check your alternator.

i know on the newer alpine HUs with bigger internal amps they ask for an 8 gauge power wire, so you might wanna consider a 12 gauge or something...certainly wouldn't hurt

If they are asking for 8, why would he use 12?
I hope you understand that 12 is thinner than 8.
