aright, so i was looking under my hatch at the spare tire compartment, and i noticed 2 medium sized holes in the compartment where my spare goes. it was kind of dark, but they were not clean holes, which pretty much throws out the idea of them being some kind of drainage. i tried feeling around the area, but it didnt feel like rust was around there. just like cracked metal. im gunna have to take a better look at this tomorrow with some better lighting but....

anyone else driving an eg ever see anything like this? and if you have, is it possible to repair this? how much would a repair like this cost?

I think you might have to weld those holes shut.

 

previous owner have nitrous in the car?? u have to drill a hole in that area to get the line out of the car and run it under the car to the engine bay. just a thought....

i just went out and i checked, it seems to be that the inner part is a layer of rubber/plastic, and under the car there seems to be a little rust around the cracked area.

haha, naw, i don't think it was nitrous. this was a bone stock car when i got it. and theres large patches on the bumper from where bumper stickers were removed.

lol yeah... i had a brain fart and i didn't know what to call it

 

i had a civic that the stock muffler had fallen off, and on its way out it put 2 holes like youre describing in the spare compartment.

hrm.... interesting. we just took my rusted muffler off the same day i noticed the holes. maybe there is some correlation.... but its strange because the spare compartment isnt at the same location as where the muffler was. i wonder how the muffler could have put the 2 holes there?

btw, what did you do about the holes?
