Hoosiers up front kumhos in rear how bad could it be?
right know the car is up for sale but I am still having such a blast driving it at local autox events, but there is a couple of bigger events coming up, and I would really like to see what the car can do. my question is right know I am running 235/45/13 v700 all around the car on a 7.5 inch rim, how twitchy/tail happy could the car really be If I put some 225/50/13 hoosier's a3s04 on the front and left the v700's on the rear? I can get some lift throttle oversteer on faster turns but on slowspeed turns the car will push if you enter too hot, maybe this is just what it needs. any input would be appriciated.

The Hoosier tire will still push if you enter too hot. A sticker compound won't save you from overdriving. IMHO, if you're used to the kumhos and you're on your way to a big event, stick with what you know. Otherwise, run Hoosier's all around. It's not just a matter of one sticking better than another, both tires behave a little differently.

FYI: I went from the Yokohama A032R-S (very similar to the Kumhos in behavior) to the Hoosier R3S03 in the same size (sortof, the hoosiers are way wider of course) and just today finally figured the Hoosiers out, 10 runs later. I think I adapt pretty quickly to new cars/setups. So, if you're headed to a big event on new tires with no experience on them, well, good luck! I certainly wouldn't want to.
And like Mr. T said, entering too hot is entering too hot. Try slowing down.

I've done it before. It's a lot of fun
There's something else wrong in the setup if you need to take this sort of drastic measure though.

Your tire/suspension system is far more complex then overall stick. What's important is transitional behavior; how quickly the tire reacts to changes in direction; how they react when their limits are exceeded; how quickly they "come back" after being exceeded. The Hoosier and the Kumho are different enough that the combination is sure to be worse and less predictable than a full set of either. This is a bad idea.

Pffft... it's more fun to show up in new cars/setups at big events.
It's a Challange.

A guy at our last event with a DS Mazdaspeed Protege was running brand new 225 A3S04 in front and stock tires in back (whatever they are), cuz of serious rubbingg issues with 225s S04s in back. Said the car was far more controllable than he expected. Placed in top 4 in DS with some stiff competition too... He'll go with 205s in back...
