My ride up on jack stands:
This is my first heart transplant. I can't wait to get it done. I want to see how the new heart compares to the old stocker.
Thanks to Ghetto-Tech rep. LoStMyBoOsT. He's provided good info and advice.
That rear mount is a bitch.

Any tips or hints?
Everyone says this is easy but, is seems like more work than I thought. I don't want to do this again in the garage on jackstands with only hand tools.

Ive done 4 motor swaps with hand tools, NO garage, on a slanted driveway in the middle of the summer. Suck it up

looks like you went thru more then you had too. Like taking off the strut fork completly ( you only need to diconnect it from the lower control arm to pull out the axle). Also no need to remove things like charcoal canister out of the engine bay\
BTW where is your intake matifold it's going to be little harder to put it back on the engine when it's already inside the engine bay.
First swap is always the hardest so chillax.

I haven't taken out the old engine yet. I took the IM off to get to the rear mount.

Uhhh? you can get to the rear mount without taking off the IM. You can get it from underneath. Just unbolt it from engine and tranny 19mm bolts.
What's wrong with a Z6 that's sitting inside right now?
You might want to pull those axles before you do anything too.

This past week I swapped in a B. The D16 came out easily (minus the axles being rusted to hell in the spindles). You should be able to reach the rear mount rather easily. I decided to drop the tranny as I didn't feel like popping the axles out or messing with the bitch pin. Best of luck.
edit: Using hand tools doesn't bother me. I had a compressor 20 feet from me and opted for hand tools the whole time
Call me old fashioned (or stupid).

I'm making progress. The old engine is out. I've swapped over the accessories and mounts. Just need to mate the transmission to the block and pick up a couple of hoses at the store.
Is it necessary to use the transmission dowel pins?

...the rear mount isnt that bad. just make sure you leave the two side mounts intacted, and take off front and back... make sure you dont forget the throttle cable and shift linkage..

I feel like swapping my D for a new D right now with all my problems but I don't have one.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I don't drag race. I autocross and hopefully will be doing some HPDEs in the near future. Reliable, more power than a stock B16 and stock appearance were my goals. Super high HP #s would be nice but not necessary. Most of the driving will be done on the street. Between traffic and gas prices I won't have too many chances to use it all.
I should be able to take a similar hatch with stock B16 swap. The money I would of spent on a swap I just put into the rebuilt engine. You never really know what kind of shape a swap is in when you get it.
Most importantly, if anyone pops the hood all they see is the dirty stock D16 that everyone seems to hate.
You need a swap y0!
Let's face it. Most of the cars on H-T are just project cars to keep us entertained. As long as I have fun with mine I'm happy. Mario Andretti I am not.

That's true even if all you do is just replace your stock engine with a same one it's still fun. Personally I think that people that pay people to do stuff for them can't enjoy the car to it's fullest.
