Midwest Racers...... GLD Import Wars Q16 new format, would you come.
I need a show of hands for who would be up for attending GLD's Import wars for a new format of Quick16..... Heads up Pro tree.......?
With say a qualifying cut off at 11.99
Put the word out and email me at dmathers@wi.rr.com
Once I get a list of people who would be more inclined to run this class over the current or with the current bracket style q16 if there is enough interest that is, I'll put the idea to Ray and the rest of the Track owners.
Thanks
Darren

Hmmm, I don't know if I like that idea....but something definately needs to change.
How many cars show up that are 11.99 and quicker? From what I've seen, not many.

I dunno there's plenty of cars capable....... Just a matter of getting the interest and getting the cars to step it up.....
Right now it seems there is a lacking in the q16 class...........Maybe this would bring them back......
I know there are some cars out there that want to run, but just don't like bracket racing......
Come on you kow you wanna do it...

Who's talking street or race cars, I'm talking FAST cars........ Cars that can turn the times to run in the class...... There's plenty of them, I know of atleast 8 to 10 DSM's, 3 to 4 Supra's, Possibly when finished a New Beetle
( Just made 500whp at 18psi and I have atleast 10psi more to go LOL ) A couple of Evo's are in the works, 2 or 3 WRX's... Lets face it there are plenty of cars, and who cares about FWD, RWD, AWD, just bring what you have and run to win.................
LEts see oh yeah quit being Import rule books pussies, any car any motor any driveline as long as it's an iport and observes Weight regulations/penalties for whether it's Power adder all motor fwd rwd awd 4 or 6 cyl...... Easy...... as they say in the old school books...... RUN WHATCHA BRUNG SLAPNUTS........
Well thast what I say LOL......... Admit it aint you tired of this rules to suit the smaller teams, IE if you look like you may have put too much time and effort to make a record making car with a new advantage in the sport your penalised for it with new rules.......

Would you take your car to a race that had nothing but Renegade Class Mustangs?
It's all relative...even fast street cars don't wanna race Full-Drag Cars.

tell me about it I have $60000 in my car, or will have when I have finished paying for the actual car
fygtbug, Q16 should be 11.99 and quicker, heads up racing w/ a pro tree. I talked with Jeff(FWD DSM) and he said he talked to someone at the track and they didn't want to hear aobut it. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help change this.
Suprdave, there are quite a few cars that run 11.99 or quicker. Last import wars there were about 7(4 were running Q16, three were not because of bracket style) cars running 11.99 or better. 7 cars isn't alot. However, there are more guys that are quicker than 11.99 but choose not to come out because of the bracket style of racing that GLD has. If fygtbug, Jeff(with the burgundy FWD DSM), Bee(with the 10sec. hatch) and myself show up that's 11 cars. I know three DSM guys that will show up if it changes to heads up. I have learned alot through bracket racing(dial ins), but the truth is we're all trying to go as quick as possible and heads up is the only way to get it done. It'll become more competitive and it will bring out more people. There are a few cars out there that are race cars, but some of them aren't consistent. If you get some of these guys off the line, some of them panic and they break. Some of them just red light because they panic and don't want to lose to any street cars. I own a street car and I don't mind racing some of these race cars. I know alot of them could beat me, but it only makes us try harder. Heads up will help us out for future races as well.

I know we at Hahn Racecraft like to go there but dont like the idea of running brackets in the quick 16.We went to the last race last year with my neon and Bill's Eclipse.Bill shatered the ring gear in the burnout box and was unable to run.I hurt the diff in my car and jumped in a borrowed SRT.I personally like the heads up Index class, just wish there was a faster bracket instead of trying to sand bag if I ran my car.I plan on attending the next one if time allows.
OK I put it to one of the owners, and he's all for it, all he wants to know is how many cars are going to show, and what kind of payouts you would be looking for?
So come on lets see a show of hands.....
If you want this to happen you have to show some commitment to it........

u will have a bunch of cars coming in

I think it is more likely to be an 11.99 cutoff as there is a 12.00 to 12.99 heads up class anyway.
But unless we can get cars to come and commit to it, why run it anyway?
Not looking for Pro cars running 8's, looking for cars that have the ability to go 11.99 and faster, and aren't afraid to go for it, will there be FWD and RWD/AWD classes, I doubt it, I myself would rather see it setup by weight, FWD car being allowed lighter cars and RWD/AWD being heavier.
Question are you going to beat RWD/AWD cars with your FWD? Why not theoretically on a perfect run a 600hp FWD against a 600hp RWD/AWD will run the same time, if the FWD only weighs in at is min weight, and the others weigh in at theirs. That is of course theory, then you have to take into account the driver, the car, the track..... So over all hell yeah sure you coud win, who knows what is going to happen on the track.
So I would say for the remainder of the season, if enough cars are willing to show for this class so we can get a full feild, then yes it will happen, if the interest shows positive results, then next season may hold a FWD RWD/AWD class separation but fr now, it will be good old run whatcha brung, that is if you've got it.....
The more that show, the better the event.... So spread the word in your respective groups and email me dmathers@wi.rr.com with a showing of cars that would show and let me know what kind of payout you would expect to see ( be realistic )

It's Quick, anything goes, your fast enough run, if not then run the 12.00 12.99 class or which ever one you fit in, now if you have 10 sec all motor, run in the quick
i dont like lining up against supra's that go 9.50's all day.
with a 12.99 cutoff and sperate the classes and ADVERTISE the event in IL and u will have 16 cars in each class. guarenteed especially with some decent payouts. its all about advertising and making the class fair. then i bet if u thru in a all moda class u would have another 16 cars there every event
fwd rwd awd should be seperated.
and a all moda class would be great, u could get so many people up there just gotta spend some coin on advertising.
u start this this year and make them good and get the word out then next year u will have a nice event series that will bring in $$$$$$$$. but u gotta let people know about it.

OK I'll say it again, SMALL steps, lets get a Quick 16 Heads up class first, cut off is 11.99 see how that goes, see if cars show up and race first.
Then look at revamping the import series next year to spread the field. An all motor class should make a good showing for sure, but then again go find me 20 cars that run all motor fast enough to run heads up, I dont think there are too many here in the Midwest that would come to GLD.
As for separating the fields I do agree, RWD/AWD anf FWD should be separate, but that would mean we need a min 40 to 60 cars to fill a good 16 car field, and they all have to be faster than 11.99...... I dont think we have that many import local to us or at least within wll travelling distance.
As for payouts, they are likely to stay similar to the Quick class as it stands you have to remember this is a track run event, not a national sponsored series, now again if we have initial interest and the show grows, we may well attract more sponsors to play the event, Right now a company called Phils Inc is making a show.
I figure we have to show strength first and gain prowess later, so no matter what is happening, get to the next Import Wars, and even if you have to run Q16 as bracket, fill the feild, make a mad showing, and then we can all approach the owners and let them know what we "Would like to see"..........
SMALL STEPS.........
They have shown interest, so lets do the same......
Now again if you are interested in this, and want to see a change email me dmathers@wi.rr.com with your opiniions and commitment to race......
Thanks again
