Default question about using stock seat belts with racing seats

I currently have 2 Recaro racing seats in my '94 Integra GSR. They are ok, but the 4-point Weaon R harnesses are a pain in the ***. I can't lean ahead to see if there are cars coming down another road if I am at an intersection where there is a fork, and it's also a pain in the *** just reaching ahead for something in the glovebox, closing the door, changing the radio station, etc. Wondering if it is OK to go back to using stock seat belts. They would probably look like **** with the racing seats, but the harnesses seem really impractical at this point, not to mention, I've heard they can actually do more harm than good vs. stock seat belts in a collision.
Thanks
Tim

I used to have racing seats that i used the stock seatbelt on and it really didn't look that bad at all, but i also had a bolt hole on my seat brackets that allowed me to bolt down the fastener. if you can unbolt the fastener off your stock seats and bolt them to the recaro's, you will be in good shape. If it becomes to much of an inconvenience i will take those recaro's off your hands.

oh, you mean the actual part that you buckle into on the stock seats is normally connected to the sliders? so i would need to somehow connect that stock seatbelt piece to the sliders for the recaro seats right? The harnesses look great, but I don't race at all, and they seem more of a pain in the ***, just impractical for constantly getting in/out of the car

Yeah exactly, some seat rails have a hole to bolt the buckel to, if not you will have to think of a way to get that on there if you want to use the stock seatbelt, but make sure it is on there real good because you dont want to rig somthing and end up getting in a crash and having it come off..

I have recaros (copies ) and the actual bracket that bolted to the floor had a hole for the seatbelt buckle.

man, dont be wearing the harnesses on the street. u already pointed out some of the dangers in ur post (lack of movement, leaning, seeing traffic)... the harnesses are better in low race situations such as solo 2 or autox
