Default mpfi HELP

im throwing codes 4 and 14, would that cause the exhaust manifold to glow red . i took out the cat and gutted it and that seemed to fix the problem for about 20 mins. it got hot again and i turned it off b4 it got the chance to start glowing.

i cant rev pass 2500rpms but im guessing thats bcuz of the 2 codes im throwing. I need to find out what is causing it to get this hot. PLEASE HELP!

you being not to rev past that is because of the code 4, its one of the crank angle sensor codes. the code 14 is the iacv which is just soemthing to maintain a smooth idle, does yoru car idle rough ?

for the code 4, unplug the big dist plug, the 2 middle terminals, not the one on the side by itself, but the 2 middle terminals, measure the resistance between these terminals, should be 350-550, if that passes then check for continuity between the ground and those terminakls individualy, if there continuity ?

let me know if you pass or which step you fail in

actually my idle is as smooth as b4 the swap, steady at 1000 but if i steadyit lower it sounds like its gonna die.

ive had my multimeter sitting so long i forgot how to use it. to check for resistance i set it on OHMS? and....??

and what do you think is causing the exhaust manifold to get so hot?

Did you switch the TPS wires around? The green and yellow need to swap positions.

just make sure that the wires on the dist side, match up with the wires on your harness side. color for color

If the firing order is wrong that can make the car run like ***. It will do some wierd shizzzzzle and your exhaust tems go up up and UP. I had the wires wrong on a 5.0 V-8 back in ther day... got that manifold glowing white hot!

If you have the thing wired up correctly, and you have the wires on right, then you probably should start looking for a new distributor.
