TPS voltage at .45 at idle, but no higher than 2.0 at WOT...any ideas why?
I've been trying to adjust the voltage on my TPS sensor at .45/4.50 Idle/WOT , since my car has been bogging a little. Now i've set the idle voltage at .45, but i can't get the WOT to 4.50, or anywhere close. It seems as though it won't go over 2.0 . Does anybody know why this occurs?
nobody knows? I know damn well i can't be the first person EVER with this problem!
Usually when the voltage is not is spec then the sensor is bad and needs replacement.
P.S. The reason no one answered is probably because this has been covered many times. Search the "archives" to find answers to questions like this.

i have searched the archives, several times. There were always answer as to HOW to adjust and WHY to adjust. Never an answer as to why the voltage won't go high enough, meanwhile there are NO CELS. My car isn't reading a TPS code for a faulty sensor, yet, the sensor won't go to 4.5 WOT....i can't find a topic on this.
no it's not the throttle cable, i was adjusting the TPS voltage from under the hood where the throttle cable doesn't come into play. It was all manually
are you sure you are measuring it on the right wires? If it is only reading 2.0V at full throttle, there should surely be a MIL.
that's what i've been trying to figure out. At first, the TPS sensor was broken; there was a CEL code 7 for the TPS, ultimately i replaced it. This is the replacement TPS sensor, now i'm just trying to adjust the voltage. There's no more CEL, and i'm tapping the middle wire which vacilates in regards to voltage, so i'm pretty sure that's the right wire. It seems to only go as high as 2.0 at full throttle, and .45-.5 at idle. Also, my car boggs to hell at the moment.

I never tried to replace a TPS, but I know they fit into the throttle shaft a certain way, and if its off a tiny bit, it wont read properly, since it is a potentiometer.

its possible to put it on wrong but almost impossible to get it to read the right voltage at idle.. if it went on wrong youd have to twist it all the way adjusting it to its max and it would still read off enough to throw a cel..

It's good that you searched. I did to, just out of curiosity, and you appear to be correct. From what I can determine from the reasearch I just did it is still apparent that your sensor is bad. I suggest you go to the dealership or parts store where you bought it and exchange it for another one.
Good luck!
