talk me into a buying a crx
I'm at the end of my lease on my integra gsr and i'm sick of paying full coverage insurance prices so i've decided to buy a used vehicle.
I was thinking about a 94 accord with the sohc vtec and 5speed. I went and test drove a couple of them and was suprised by the power of the sohc. While it didnt have the peaky top end of the gsr's dohc, it had a smoother application of power across the entire engine range.
Then I got to thinking that if i'm going to do engine mods to the accord anyway, I might as well start with a platform that would respond better to mods i.e the crx.
I found one in the tradin times but I can't test drive it until tomorrow
(monday 5-24) and i'm trying to get a better idea of what this car is capable of.
It's a 1991 crx si 5speed with 120,000 miles for $3000 athough I think I can get it for $2700. Anyway, like the title of the thread says...talk me into buying a crx.
thanks in advance,
joeD

if the car is in excellent condition .. its only worth : blue book value 2700 ...
id' get him to go down from 3000 ...but the value is also up to you .. how bad you want it in other words ... i'd go check it out definatly ... i love my rex ...
Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks great, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. It should pass a smog inspection. The engine compartment should be clean, with no fluid leaks. The paint is glossy and the body and interior are free of any wear or visible defects. There is no rust. The tires are the proper size and match and are new or nearly new. A clean title history is assumed. This is an exceptional vehicle.

dont get one with a back seat... its a crumple zone for god sakes. they handle wonderfuly. i've had all my instructors on track as me what i've done to my suspension and they are in awe when i tell him its stock with 180k on the shocks and springs.
no need to convince you, just go for a test drive and you will convince yourself that there is no other car in the world like it...
everyday i catch myself just staring at my crx for a while and mine isnt in that great of shape...im always in awe of how great of a car it is...driving it puts a

Back to topic. Yes CRX are excellent cars man. Dont give into the hype about it being old, it being ugly, it being slow. NONONO, you can do so much with the CRX platform its mind boggling.
IMO I love the crx's sexyness...I mean no car looks like it. Put a b16 in there for 2000ish, and you will have a CRX that would put your GSR to shame in the 1/4 track any day. I love pulling 2 cars instantly on my friends 98' GSR on the freeway. And the distance only gets bigger
Test drive it, you'll like the way it feels. Do it Do it

i guess you could swap in a b16a...but i dont think the crx is ugly...
me the crx is a perfect car and its one of the best looking out there on the road...the stock d16a6 is a great engine and with some simple bolt-ons its a lot of fun and all you really need for a daily driver...

I own a 89 Crx Si with a B16 swap. I like it alot. I thought the CRX's look nice, but after i've seen body kits for the rex, i think its kinda ugly. I bought a Black Widow kit for my rex, and I think thats the hottest thing out, so it all depends. Im more about the kits and stuff than stock crap, I just like to be different and stick out ya know. But hey, if I could get my best friend to buy a crx, it would be great. His only reason why he wont is because he hates how the back is all flat... Stupid reason why he has a 78' ford pickup that gets 8 miles to the gallon! heh, good gas milage too, isnt that with every honda?!?
it's easy to hate it when it breaks, but once its back up and running, that smile just comes back on your face and you are glad you put all that time and effort into it. the bad times seem to disappear.
thats how it is for me, anyways

i was a domestic fan, i was drivin around with a car with a big block v-8, i needed to buy something to put some miles on, i found a d16z6 crx cheap and bought it, now as far as street driving goes i'm all about hondas
i love the crx's and it was my first car, now i have an 89 si hatch and a 91 accord, but IMO you cant go from a an acura to a rex. thats a downgrade. go accord and make sure its an ex......
Just take it on a test drive,Rex's sell themselves
Don't let the size worry you at first, trust me it will grow on you.I was strictly domestic with Trans/Ams and such-Until-I found my 91CRXsi.Now that's all I drive. You can't beat the fun factor with these cars

well i guess its down to if u want a 4-door or ahatch. i would never buy a 4door honda for the fact that i hate 4 doors, they dont handle as well, and there heavier. id go for that rex cause it sounds like its in nice condition.all i can say is the only reason i went with a honda is because of the crx. i dont care for the hatches and the coupes because of the back seat and so on. the nicest things about the rex is the flat rear end, no other car has it. anyway like the other guy said, ive seen guys that had rexs and then they got rx-7s,supras,vr-4s and so on and they always make room for anotehr rex.
i've owned a 97 rs integra, 98 ITR, and now a 93 civic cx hatch.. out of all the cars i've driven the ITR owns... ITR got totalled.. but i still got the motor.. now the civic cx is awaiting a swap... the reason why i got the civic hatch is because it is an easier and cheaper swap from a teg to a hatch.. but im a crx lover from the get go!.. never owned one or driven one.. but i know its capabilitites and i love the design.. i am currently looking for an 88 crx hf and dish out a couple more $$ to do the swap and use the cx as a daily driver... theres just something about hybrid crx's..
