Well installed the zex kit on the Si. 00 si..

wired it up perfect, took the bottle to get filled for some fun in the sun. Well after about 10 minutes of playing with it finally got the spray going. tapped the intake mounted the nozzle and 55 shot.

all good.
but wait??

no nitrous at wot when we were driving. then. all of the sudden BAAAAAA sprays and were off. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, going about 105 in 4th. let off the gas..

kept spraying for some reason. it didn't keep with my wot, it would spray then not spray so something is def up..

take it to the house. car wouldn't stop revving. had to coast it in 3rd to keep the idle at 4 g..

butterfly was bent like the letter C..

go to dturbocivics turbo garage farm house to pick up a butterfly.. get it play with his toys in his garage, notice a couple *****'s and i ran outta there.
any guy that lives near a street called after a animal scares me.

9am day 2...
go change the butterfly. wtf one of the screws wont go on.. fk its gonna idle high.. sure enough 2g rpms. im the king of rigging.. i find a screw, make that bitch fit..
now she idles at 1000 which is still high but alot better than bouncing off 8500 like yesterday..

secondary o2 is snapped thanks to that nice explosion. i noticed the inatke manifold was a little well... BLACK on the inside. cant be nice. spark plugs were cool, motor sounded fine.. took it for a test ride, gave her a oil check, she was fine. just a little high on the idle. its normally about 800, now its at 1000 on the nose.

i tried checking too see if the little green light comes on my zex unit for the wot set and it doesn't. could a faulty zex nmu be at fault??? i can hear it click when i turn it on but for some reason that light isn't lighting up like it should..

imma peep it again later, open the bottle and let it rip with the 45 shot to be safe... any ideas on what could cause it to not spray at wot and just randomly? tps hook up is damn near perfect, 12v power to a fuse, and im using the chassis negative for the box as well...

them 3 or 4 pulls i did with it.
made a huge fking difference. i zoomed pass a v8 trans am.. but then it exploded and went rev happy thanks to the fked up butterfly.

the whole throttle body is fucked. it bend the little rod that the butterfly slides into..
aint this some ****
imma call zex tommorow. im almost 100%sure the box is fucked. i cant even hear the solenoid click...

it doesn't even light up to let me know that it read the tps. just sprays when it feels like it.

btw.
2 loud explosions.. some detonation..
im praying im not gonna have to do a rebuild.

called zex. they said it sounds like the nmu is bad.. i gotta send it back in, it will be covered under my 1 year warranty.

so we shall see....

you know that new nmu cost 300 bucks??

 

i've seen it happen on 3 separate occassions...

#1 DOA on a civic
#2 Solenoid stuck on a supra (Motor was idling at 3k after a run, he thought IAC was stuck, so tapped the gas and BOOM!)
#3 Activated at 1/2 - 3/4 throttle on a mustang, and would cut in and out.

The zex is a nice setup, but I prefer NX

Me neither.

It's a little tricky to set up the unit to trigger @ WOT. If you don't do it in the correct steps, the unit's solenoids will flicker on and off when you arm it. Luckily, I didn't fill the bottle until I knew it was working properly.

I'd check your compression, just to be on the safe side.

i cant believe you used n20 again before you got everything on the motor working right. im surprised you havent broken anything yet.

 

dont run the n2o until your sure its right.. what if you would have sucked a chunk of metal from the TB into the motor? Are you praying for your engine to blow?

as for the zex. its not my fault. everything is running right. just that silly box thats bad

and the backfire actually pushed out against the throttle body. bending the butterfly towards the intake itself. once i heard the explosion. i immediatly cut the car off...

I agree. I've never heard of the ZEX box having that problem when used properly.

I did know someone whose NOS solenoid stuck open all the time though.

with silly single cams hahahaha

You can show them what single cams? You don't know any spraying single cams. I know I do but they all switch to DOHC.. And yes ricky you are a NOOB

Damn that sounds scary. I just installed my ZEX kit two days ago, and no problems as of yet. I've sprayed about 12 times

well i think the big problem was that you knew there was a problem, and it didn't seem like it was resolved, and then you went ahead and sprayed again? wtf

 

na i tested it with the nitrous not on the intake
it worked fine
then when i did it again. she sprayed fine. second pull it went berzerk again and POW

I haven't switched to DOHC yet and I'm NOT a noob nitrous user.

I never said you was. My boy had a sohc crx that went 11.3 on a stock block and that is why Ricky brings the sohc motors up. But Ricky will never get to that level. Sorry ricky had to say that.
