Default What kind of clutch fluid are you using?

After almost two full days of hard running at the track, my car suffered it's first "hick-up" of sorts in the two years I've had it. Coming out of turn 1 at GingerMan Raceway, my car would not shift down to second or third or any gear. So I pulled off into the grass and stopped the car, let the clutch out, pushed it back in and then magic. All of the gears were back. This came with no warning, grinding and this is the first time it has happened.

So I ask you guys/gals, what clutch fluid are you using? I'm pretty sure that mine boiled, so I am considering using something with a higher boiling point. Thanks for your help.

Currently I am using STP DOT 3, but I want to switch to ATE superblue. I can't find anywhere to order it.

I'm using AP Racing 551 Racing fluid. Any high-performance DOT 3 fluid (or any DOT 3 fluid for that matter) will work. I noticed a little firmer pedal when I switched, but then again my fluid was black as night when I changed it.

BTW you can get ATE fluid from www.daliracing.com.

Damn I hope not. I guess that is why I have the extended warranty though. I may not have boiled it, but it does not look so good. The other thing I want to check into is the slave cylinder, but I'll start with the easy things first. Thanks for all of your replies.

Honda318dx, are you going to try and make it out to Laguna Seca for the SpeedTrial event?

I am trying to go as well. We are also looking to rent something exotic. Maybe a Focus!!!

So have you had problems with your transmission, or clutch etc? It was really wierd because this happened to my friend one lap later. The exact same thing. Unfortunately, he went back out and started goofing off and that is why we are going back to the track this weekend with a trailer. Ouch.

My tranny has been fine, just take it easy on it.. They are fragile.. Have you ever experience HI RPM cutoff? Mainly on left hand corners.. Both my motors have/do do it.. A friend in a SH prelude was having the same problem with the same corners..

Corey, I have never experienced engine cut-out. GingerMan has a long fast left sweeper that I am usually right at redline in third gear (about 90mph in a 98) coming out of and I have never had that happen. Did the motor just quit for a second or did it blow? I guess I should knock on some wood.

My tranny has been flawless up to this point and it really feels as though it is a clutch problem relating to the master cylinder, clutch fork, slave cylinder or even just air in the line. I am going to bleed the clutch line and see if that helps and if it doesn't (which I figure) then it will either go up to King or to my Honda dealer.
